I've heard of scalping but this is more decapitation! £4k for a 3090???
Yeah, current situation sucks for anyone really needing an upgrade right now. Wonder how long stock will take to stabilise and for prices to recover.

Just keep trying, I managed to get my 3090FE at 18:58, so there isn't much rhyme or reason to the timing of the drops. The 3090 isn't a very popular card so that one was available for a good couple of hours. All other FE GPU's sold out within 3-4 minutes.
Due to the price to performance ratio of the 3090s, there isn't the same demand compared to the other 30 series cards.
The 3090 FE can stay in stock for a few/several hours compared to seconds/minutes of the other cards.
Yeah you're correct, I had a 3090 in my basket on scan for quite a while trying to justify it to myself over the 3080 but in the end I removed it after seeing sense but only briefly because I was considering going back and seeing if it was still in stock to re add it and buy the bugger just so I had a new card to play with

I have no regrets. Even better was selling my 2080 FE which had a good two years usage, for about £160 less than I paid for it (£749). It's already been said I'm sure but definitely get yourself on the PartAlert Discord channel or CtrlAltStock as I got notified of a Scan RTX30 series drop and managed to get a RTX 3070 FE last week!
How does one get themselves on those channels?

Install Discord phone app, search for channel and join (it may prompt you to accept the invitation to join). Then, for PartAlert, go to the sign-up-here section and click the number at the bottom of the top post, that corresponds to the model of gfx card you want alerts for (you'll see what I mean when you're on that page).
Can't comment on CtrlAltStock as didn't use that. I used UK Stock Alert instead - if using that, once joined to their channel, go to notification-signup and again select the relevant number for whichever card(s) you want alerts for.
N.B. I also signed up for Twitter alerts from both the above, as I found that sometimes the Discord alerts would come through first, other times it would be the Twitter alerts. Just search each one on Twitter, follow them and click the bell for alerts for each.
So last Thursday was extremely busy working then at lunch notice the in the General Chat on Discord that everyone was saying,,, Drop coming 2pm 3pm!!!
The notifications started popping up then I jumped to the link and was on a holding page of the 3080FE with no option to add to basket, ended up opening 2 tabs with the link providing on the discord alert, then I slowly refreshed each one, and again. Then noticed that on nvidia's website it said oos. But folk said before to keep trying as orders don't go through for whatever reason.
Anyway... an "Add to basket appeared" and I was taken to 2 different rounds of CAPTCHA asking "where are the bikes" next "where are the cycle lanes"...Oh my god the stress....
Order went through and I was one of the very lucky ones, work then called and ask why I was not answering my phone?
It's currently sitting under my desk waiting for case and cooler to arrive, honestly can't believe I got one. Don't give up.
There are two UK sellers who still seem to be honouring RRP and getting semi-regular stock for AIB (non-FE) that you can order online without already being on a pre-order list. Albeit in small numbers and swiftly pounced upon as you are in a compete situation vs bots. I'm not going to name them but you'll quickly figure out which stores. Be logged into the store and already on the item page you want. Be ready to refresh once the discord alert comes in and checkout as quickly as possible. Huge thanks to @BiggusDickus for helping me with the discord side of things.
After several heart-pounding failures (item in basket, gone before I can enter credit card info) I just managed to preorder a 3070 for March. The email says arriving tomorrow which I presume is an error due to selecting next-day shipping. I really want a cheaper 3060ti as I don't think the 10% extra performance of the 3070 is worth the extra money. If I manage to get a 3060ti and can't return the 3070 then there may be a classified going up!
Edit, scratch that, they both hiked prices today by 15-20% on several cards. Scalping all round it seems.
