Does anyone know which manufacturers have best policy? I am I right in thinking if a pixel is doa then Iiyama will swap the monitor and give you a new one?
Most dead pixel policies are clearly stated somewhere. I see nothing wrong, or irresponsible, about a company that allows whatever number of dead pixles as long as there is a way for the consumer to know this before anything is purchased.
If every LCD with dead pixels was tossed out, making LCDs would not be profitable.
And you would rather pay 10x more because all of the 0.0000000001% faulty tft's go in the bin?
Testing each tft takes time and money, which is better spend improving the technology and improving the yeilds of good tft's.
Shops could check them, and price them according to number of dead pixels, however I doubt the extra money they make from perfect tft's would make up the loss from having loads of tft's noone really wants.
And even with 0 dead pixels, there are other more annoying problems which are more common - uneven backlighting for example.

At a computer fair last week I was offered a Digimate 17" TFT for £132 which included a £5 discount for a dead pixel. I was told someone had returned it due to the dead pixel. The trader said the restocking fee was around 15%.Originally Posted by |SilentDeath|
Shouldn't it have been priced a lot cheaper as they had already charged over £20 for the return?
In the end bought a Video-Seven (on display) with no dead pixels. According to the guy who sold it, it has one year return to retailer warranty followed by two year manufacturer warranty.
