I dunno if you've considered the aforementioned NEC 20WGX2 seriously but I'd really recommend you do!
I studied reviews from every forum and magazine when I was trying to buy a 20" wide monitor and I ended up going round in circles.
In the end I just ordered the NEC and I wish I'd done it sooner. It was a bit more than I hoped to spend but it was worth every penny.
Have seen the nec around i reviews but have not considered it due to £ & glossy screen that seems 2 have got a lot of bad reviews. The key isue here is cost I'm planning on getting a x1900xt at the same time giving a total budget of around £530.
Could get a x1800xt or x1900gt 256mb, which would be £150 gfx card £380 monitor at a pinch but am not sure if i'd see A performance drop (less memory & gfx power).
Am going on holiday wednesday will look at ordering probably week after next - if i can make my mind up atm think i'm probably going dell but will mull over the NEC, have also just seen Viewsonic VX2235wm 22" Widescreen LCD Monitor which ocuk have in stock @ £370 2" extra 4 £70 mmmm... so it goes on.
Certainly know that feelingand I ended up going round in circles
thanks
Edit: That's spooky i think the NEC MultiSync® LCD20WGX2 20.1" Widescreen LCD Monitor - Black/Silver just went down at oc uk - it now shows £370.11 inc vat.

Had a look at Viewsonic VX2235wm 22" Widescreen LCD Monitor is causing quiet a splash but it doesn't have the build quality of the dell or the NEC, a lot of criticism is around the stand, which is not an issue as I will be wall mounting ,it appears to be a TN panel which i believe isn't as good .
Will mull it over whilst on hols atm i think i'm swayed to the Dell, probably change another 4 times
I haven't had the fortune to see a 2007 in action yet so couldn't compare them directly. What I can say is that having seen most of the other competitors I would still buy the same screen. Primarily due to the product but party due to NEC's customer service. At £400, what advantages are there above the 2007WFP?
When I was buying, due to circumstance, I kinda had to have faith in what I'd read online and in mags. That was that the "Opticlear" screen gives a very vibrant picture and that it's quite speedy response wise. I've found both these comments to be very true.
I know a lot of people are worried by the glossy screen but it's hard to explain just how little you notice any reflection in day to day use. It's also hard to explain just how much it helps (perceived or otherwise) to bring out the colour of what's onscreen.
Personally I find that the anti-reflective coating on TFT's really takes the edge off the image and have never really been a fan. I always find the "screen door/silk screen" effect quite off-putting. A bit like comparing matt and gloss photos.
So basically if you have the chance to see a 20WGX2 I'd say it's worth a trip to check it out. If you prefer anti-glare look elsewhere.
Good luck with whatever you buy!
I use a ViewSonic vx2025 I like it,no dead / stuck pixels very easy to use for long periods back light is nice & even across the whole panel.
My eyes are far less strained at the end of the day far less than any other monitor I have used.
Digitizer.........
Lots of people in this thread have gone for the Dell 2007 over the Viewsonic vx2025wm - if we're going from the tftcentral guide, which reckons that the P-MVA panels have better black depth and movie playback, what are people basing this decision on, especially given that the viewsonic panel is cheaper, and response times seem to be similarly low?
I know the Viewsonic doesn't have 1:1 pixel mapping, does the Dell?
Well Back refreshed from holiday
None if u pay £400 for itAt £400, what advantages are there above the 2007WFP?
Dell currently have offer on(till 26th) it making it around £303 OCUK have it in @ around £313 following Dell's offer OCUK will ship next day dell may be 5~7 days. At that price the Delll does appear attractive, more so than the Viewsonic vx2025wm which though good looking at the reviews is an older design with less features & poorer more limited controls.
Was seriously tempted by bigblue's recommendation for the NEC LCD20WGX2, but pretty sure i'll order the Dell.
Let u know how it goes.
Thanks for help views & advise
The Viewsonic VX2025 is a flawed monitor. ALL vx2025 models have an issue with DVI, where it drops the connection and sometimes you can get it back, sometimes you cant. I have been speaking to Viewsonic a lot this last couple of weeks and they are refusing to swap out any monitors with the DVI fault because the replacement unit will also have the same fault. They are alledgedly working on a firmware fix, but couldnt/wouldnt give any kind of timescale, they wouldnt even say if it could be weeks or months. I would also like to add that i asked Viewsonic if they would give me an upgrade or a swap for a different model and the only model they would swap it for was a 19" 4:3 model that didnt have DVI. Ummm okay.
OuchALL vx2025 models have an issue with DVI
Not seen that that's pretty crap especially seeing the many long threads praising the wm version. Sorry 4 your problems Clunk, hope u get sorted, thanks 4 sharing.
yep, i was surprised as well, actually, more surprised that they admitted it to a customer, although saying that, it was either that, or keep sending me replacements.
