I see you have the same keyboard and monitor combination as I'll have if I buy this monitor. Can you re-arrange your setup for me, so your keyboard and monitor could fit on a 48cm wide desk, and let me know how it is to use please. I'm pretty sure it'll be ok (just), but I'd like someone to try it out all the same .

    Thanks again.

    Samsung SyncMaster 225BW LCD Monitor
On paper, the 225BW looks to be a very impressive monitor--sporting features like an 8-bit panel, an ultra-fast 5ms response time and future-friendly HDCP support
£328.99 Available around 2 weeeks. AAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr Looks better quality & specs than the viewsonic 22". Worth waiting 4 ???

    Damn you!

I was pretty much set n the Dell 2007WFP until you came along with your 255BW .

At first glance, the 2007WFP sounds like it might give a better image due to the smaller pixel size, but the 225BW has a much lower responce time, so I'm not sure which I prefer now...

Hehe Sorry ajbrun. How do u think i Feel. Seems like forever i've been researching this. Was exactly the same re 2007WFP., but the samsung does look pretty good Samsung 22" LCD Syncmaster 225BW - Komplett 15 pcs expected on stock 2006-09-28
so assume OCUk will have them around same time.

Was of same opinion re pixel size but SM225BW
    22” widescreen monitor with a height-adjustable stand.
though bigger than 20" 0.282 pixel pitch is only the same as a 19" monitor see TFT Central Resolution

Dell's offer expires Wednesday though OCUK are around the same £. Looks like decision time is pending. I've had easier times selecting components for a cpu/mobo memory upgrade

On the Samsung US Site it's both but UK = only silver. I must admit my own preference is black.

I've been looking today & found a bit more :-
Review: Samsung 225BW (with lots of photos)

    Also
    Samsung SyncMaster 225BW 22"

I must admit my initial enthusiasm is a little dimmed by the reports of blacklight bleed this seems a random but disturbing issue(see post#25 last link). There should be another review up tommorow from Chris on the last link.

@Pie_uk - belated thanks 4 the picks. Have you checked which panel your Dell 2007WFP is ?? It shows up in the service menu Dell Service Menu From - Review:

I ordered the dell last night, even after knowing about the samsung. The way I see it, is that there are only 2 benefits for having the samsung over the dell, and that's the responce time, and the extra 2 inches.

From what I've heard, responce times are measured differently by different companies. There's the 16ms dell vs the 5ms from samsung, however from what I've read, it seems dell have quoted a high figure (no idea why), so maybe samsung have taken a low one? I've not seen a single review about the dell that says it's bad for gaming. In fact, it's quite the opposite.

The second point is about the extra 2 inches of screen. The resolution between the two monitors is identical, therefore, there must be the same number of pixels, but on the samsung, this is spread out on a larger area, making each pixel bigger than those from the dell. Therefore, comon sense would suggest that dell should have the better picture quality.

On top of all that, in my opinion the dell just looks nicer .

    Think that's a sound move.

Re Responce Times see TFT Central Specifications

Only concern i have re the Dell is what panel I will get as I outlined But Which Dell Panel post#15 The only better monitor is the NEC 20WGX2 but at £70 more plus the glossy screen (The window is behind me) that may give isues brings me back 2 Dell. Dell also has PIP & more connections that may be useful than the Samsung.

The Samsung looks the best of an emerging 22" market segment, pixel size isn't an issue (22"=19") but the backlight bleed looks like a quality issue which i think i'll pass on.

the viewsonic has gone back to scan today, so ive got to decide soon, what to replace it with, and like everyone else, its looking like the dell or the samsung.

Dell ordered this AM should be here tommorow.

    Edit:Tommorrow:-
Well got it this am very nice finish & display is faultless. Very impressed with quick release stand.
    Wall Mounted 1
    Wall Mounted 2
Checked to see what panel is used :-
Service Menu (sorry 4 crap pic) shows panel to be LM201W01 the same as :-
The monitor we have received was equipped with a LM201W01 panel that was already found in the previous 2005FPW. It is, however, a newer version. The reference is the same but it has been improved. Afterglow is less visible and standard color quality has been corrected. Unfortunately the reaction time isn’t as good as the NEC 20WGX².
    From BE Hardware Review
Which is a bit of a bummer.

Haven't had time to game that much, but have run the sopranos dvd which ran very well.
Will have to see in the next week how the responce time measures up. Otherwise all is very well.
