thats about right so its probably what kieran said..just a system bottle neck or your settings are a little mullered!

weird, check your cpu temps. my 4200 x2 was overheating giving me crappy framerates.
Everythings in working order, no overheating.. ahhh BFG ****ed me over saying the 8800 GTX would run great on my current rig .
this sounds like a driver conflict
did you uninstall your old drivers from your old graphics card properly?
Just madea fresh instal of windows, gunna downlaod the latest driver and see if that works..
good luck soldier
Pretty sure thats perfectly critical playing at that res on cs:s a 7900 gtx would be overkill let alone an 8800 gtx hell a 6800 gt would be absouloutley fine at that res
as said in other threads an 8800 gtx is only worth the cash if you playing on a 24inch monitor up and using the highest res.
But even then a gts would probably still be ok, and with a game like cs:s a gts would play css at max very well on a 30 inch screen i would have thought too.
Also I acheived 193 fps last year on same res with an opteron based sytem with a 7800 gtx
I use a GTS on a 19" monitor and just did a test in the HL2/CS:S benchmark in game
Score: 221.6fps average (everything maxed out)
I think thats enough for even the most ardent gamer so why go higher?
It isn't seriously bottlenecked by the cpu, just remember graphics card > cpu for games
A x2 4600 is hardly a slouch at all, just because your getting 100fps but could be having 150fps means nothing to me.
He could do with more RAM though
the thing is css isnt a ram heavy game, as i said above i got on a 17 inch 193 fps with 1 gig ram an opteron 144 and a 7800 gtx (overclocked it all but sill)
as said above anything over 100 fps isnt to the human eye noticeable i dont think, but 220 fps is MORE than enough for css so i mean thats why i made the comment on the gfx card a first.
anyway how did it go mate with a reinstall?
still crappy performance after clean install of windows... gayness!
