    am i doing something wrong??

i have tried to clcok my toledo core amd 3800+ x2 , i have a asus a8nsli deluxe, (2 x 1GB) Corsair XMS3200-C2PT,i have got it too this figure

    http://valid.x86-secret.com/show_oc.php?id=214752

i set the ht to 4 , the clock speed to 267, multiplier to 10x, i raied the ram voltage slightly and cpu voltage, also dropped ram to 333mhz, and pice to 33.
it seems a little slower than wot i expected (slower responce )
or am i asking for too much , is there bottleneck anywhere?
    thnx for looking

slowing your RAM down to DDR2700 wont help at all, neither will dropping the hyper transport multiplier (you letting the CPU commicate with the ram and motherboard slower)

No offence MrP but have you ever overclocked S939 before?

The HT multiplier should be down to 3x as soon as your FSB gets above 250 so do that first.

Also, setting the RAM divider to DDR333 is the right thing to do - I have the same memory as you and it can do 220MHz so you *should* be okay, just make sure it's got 2.8v running through it.

Finally, run Orthos to check for stability.

If you've got a decent cooler (?) try upping it to 1.5v but I'd say you were on the limits of what the chip can do at 2.6GHz... depending on the stepping.

The stepping code's written on the top of the CPU itself, don't worry about it.

Right I think we should aim for 2.4GHz to get things rolling as this puts no stress on the memory:

    FSB - 240
    CPU multiplier - x10
    HT Multiplier - 4x
    RAM divider - DDR333
    RAM timings - 2-3-3-6 1T

    CPU voltage - 1.475v
    RAM voltage - 2.8v

Run ORTHOS for an hour or so while taking note of your CPU temperature (it should be under 60ºC) and then report back.

2.6GHZ is a good overclock, when you say slower response do you mean slower than the stock speed, or it not as quick as you expected?

just slower than i expected , i just switched from single core 3800+ to dual core yesterday

i just orthos-ed for 1 hr and temps via pc wizard have been 32c i upped to 2.5ghz now pushed to 2.65 gonna stress again , i take it its the ram+cpu test
how big is the core2duo diffrence ( and is there a big wow factor)

    greedy !!

Those temp look good I have core temp beta 0.94 showing my CPU (currently at stock speed 1.8GHz)
    core#1 41C
    core#2 39C
Those are idle temps but the sun has been cooking my room all day

I have the same ram and M/B as you. My M/B System bus can to do ~300 and the ram to do 2-3-3-6 ~210Mhz

If you want to be a bit more systematic read a few overclocking notes on the web
    Summary
    1) find max System bus (set your CPU multiplier to the lowest setting and keep upping the bus- keep ram at or below stock)
    2) find max CPU speed (keeping ram at or below stock)
    3) find max ram speed (keeping CPU at or below stock)
    4) find a combination of the above that is 'stable'

32ºC under load? That doesn't sound right at all, use CoreTemp.

Make sure your memory timings are nice and loose and that the HT multiplier is at 3x.

As manwithnoname said, 2.6GHz is a good overclock - C2D being worth it depends on what you use your PC for?

temps are 51/52 going to max of 54
i have also 43 proccess running at same time ie spysweeper nod etc ....
10 mins and no probs yet ( i had all the sensors ticked in orthos originally, maybee that caused it to stop originally , or my greed for ghz
why is there a big diffrence in temps for individual cores as opposed to just the proccesor temp ?
as in pcwizard almost 20c diff which is a lot

pc just gets used for newsleeching , some ripping from divx- dvdr, just like to have some over boost, i saw a video on youtube , and someone was showing you how fast his/her pc boots up , i must admit nearly wet myself , in few seconds all his proggies are up after windows boots up ( serious envy )
    is that the cache ?

    timings are
    217mhz frequency
    cpu/12 fsb:ram
    3.0 clocks cas# latency
    3 clocks ras# to cas# delay
    3 clocks ras# precharge
    6 cycle time
    22 bank cycle time
    16 clocks dram idle time
    2t command rate

    spd timings
    3.0
    3
    3
    8

Temps are good although bear in mind that 'stable' is considered anywhere between 8 and 24 hours Orthos. Don't worry about the difference in core temps, mine are about 9ºC apart and it's totally normal.

The CPU has VERY little to do with boot times, that's all down to hard drives and what programs you have set to load at startup so I wouldn't worry about it.
