    Front audio connection

Hi guys, i m having trouble in connecting the front audio panel for a case.
I used a "IntelĀ® Desktop Board DG31PR" and a common case. The manual of the mobo shows a table for the connections as below:
    1: [Port 2] Left channel
    2: Ground
    3: [Port 2] Right channel
    4: PRESENCE# (Dongle present)
    5: [Port 1] Right channel
    6: [Port 1] SENSE_RETURN
    7: SENSE_SEND (Jack detection)
    8: Key (no pin)
    9: [Port 2] Left channel
    10: [Port 2] SENSE_RETURN
The case wires are only seven (7) and markedas below:
    -ear-R x 2
    -ear-L x 2
    -mic in
    -mic
    -gnd
I m having trouble connecting the mic and i m a little confused where to connect the others for the headphones.
    Thanx in advance

    Re: Front audio connection

Ah, I think I know the problem here. I found this one when trying to connect my Creative X-Fi to the front panel connectors as it had the same 10 pin arrangement on it.

Intel introduced their new HD Audio codec for onboard sound and they updated the motherboard headers, which is incompatible with the AC97 header that went before it. It sounds like you've got a case which has connections for AC97 and a motherboard with connections for HD Audio.
If you can't keep up, stick with reality...

This link has some info - which states that the headers should be compatible, but not all functuiosns will be supported. (You need to scroll down the link a bit to get all the info)

    Re: Front audio connection

I'm pretty sure my motherboard had a similar arrangement but had schematics for both pin layouts and a jumper to force it to AC97

    or something like that..
