    Pc nightmare

In the past week, my pc has turned into a nightmare. All I've changed is adding a new graphics card and transplanted my pc into a new case.

Sometimes, my pc gets stuck at boot when scanning for IDE devices and makes a quiet beeping noise. It's not the same noise as the POST diagnostics. Also, my secondary harddrive isnt being recognised in windows.

Also, sometimes my pc freezes and then randomly reboots.

    My spec is:

    Opteron 146
    Asrock DualSata
    1gb DDR400
    6600

    Thanks

You've gone through the usual checks of making sure everything is seated securely, also do you have a spare IDE cable to test with. Do you have the original gfx card to put back in to see if the system is stable with it. Can you try booting with various components unplugged to try and see if a faulty component is the cause.

Re: your secondary drive is it IDE or Sata? and once in Windows if you right click on My Computer, select manage and disk management do you see the 2nd drive listed in there?

If you look in your bios settings are all your rom drives displayed?

Is your pc overclocked at all and if so do you still get the OS lock up's running @ stock speeds.

Hope your able to track the fault down.

Do you have another psu you can try? Did you move your old psu with the case transplant?
This sort of sounds (to me) like a psu problem.

I took out the harddrive that wasnt being recognised and my pc is fine now. It was that harddrive that was beeping. Is it broken?

if you didn't change any jumper/bios settings then it would suggest that your secondary drive is dead. It's still worth swapping the cable for a known good one, but I think the drive has probably served it's last file.

UNLESS it's a new PSU - this could be having issues pushing enough juice and hence the drive not spinning properly - might be worth testing with another PSU if possible (espesh as this started happening when you added a new graphics card...)

The motherboard is seated right? On the risers? No risers touching the mobo where they shouldn't?
