    1. Was there anything you particularly liked about the MoreComputers.com site?

The layout was quite nice, sub categories for the main topics.
Customer reviews were there to see what certain products were like, along with youtube videos and multiple images.

    2. Was there anything you really didn't like about the MoreComputers.com site?

Some parts of the text was small.

    3. Finally, if there was one thing any retailer could do to solve a problem you have with online shopping, what would it be? Or, if you prefer, just tell us something another retailer does that you'd like to see MoreComputers.com do.

Being able to delivery to another residential address, i.e. present for someone else and adding in arrival dates for the out of stock items rather than simply stating out of stock!
    Woohoo now Assistant Manager!

    1. Was there anything you particularly liked about the MoreComputers.com site?

Reviews for products from customers and ok customer services such as insured delivery, a good returns policy and easy to find contact details, help customers to trust the website is legit. Not to mention the "No hidden charges, No gimmicks, No nonsense" slogan which is re-assuring.

    2. Was there anything you really didn't like about the MoreComputers.com site?

Website seemed kinda slow. I didnt like some parts of the navigation e.g. the menu for components could be properly catagorised in a sub menu. Also when searching for a graphics card I cant see any filter options to which would allow me to a certain range of cards i.e. only cards from the ATI 4970 X2 Range.

    3. Finally, if there was one thing any retailer could do to solve a problem you have with online shopping, what would it be? Or, if you prefer, just tell us something another retailer does that you'd like to see MoreComputers.com do.

Special Offers on Products (e.g. bundle offers) or delivery, competitive prices. Some sites run forums for Customers to discuss products or get help quickly from site admins which i think is a good idea. Perfect Customer Service i.e. lots of confirmation emails, re-assuring messages, regular site updates, accurate ETA dates for out of stock items.

still, wp on the site anyway

    Nothing was outstanding.

    2. Was there anything you really didn't like about the MoreComputers.com site?

Again, nothing really screamed out as bad.

Lots of bargins are always good. I have always liked scan's website as it is easy to find the type of product from the front page.

1)Was there anything you particularly liked about the MoreComputers.com site?

Its clean layout, professional presentation and minimal clutter on the homepage, with separation of the required sections laid out logically.
Clean and easy to use navigation, fast load ups and well organised product display.

2)Was there anything you really didn't like about the MoreComputers.com site?

The secured transaction guardian logo on the right hand side. You have it on the bottom too.
You should put the brands into a drop down list once you've gone into a sub section such as monitors.
    Sometimes loading takes a while.

3)Finally, if there was one thing any retailer could do to solve a problem you have with online shopping, what would it be? Or, if you prefer, just tell us something another retailer does that you'd like to see MoreComputers.com do.

To be able to call someone at the HQ and have them deal with the problem there and then. Be it returns or general customer service. Also when returning something not having to pay for the delivery of a faulty item.
    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Re: HEXUS.winners - win4FREE competitions :: win £550 of Logitech kit from MoreComput

After browsing the more computers for an laser fax we need at work I was quite impressed overall.

Was there anything you particularly liked about the MoreComputers.com site?

I liked the wide range of products, good prices and plenty of information about each product on the site. In general I found the site easy to navigate and the search function works well. I also liked the compare function which some sites lack.

Was there anything you really didn't like about the MoreComputers.com site?

The first lack that I noticed was the lack of fine subdivision in the categories. For example, looking for a mono laser fax multifunction machine, I found a section 'printers>multifunction printers', which includes these machines but there are 10 pages to look through to find what you want. Looking for 27" LCD monitors, you can only choose 'LCD 20 and above', which includes many items that don't interest you and also is not very descriptive.

The other thing I don't like being small grey text on a white background. I find that dark text on a bright background is the most likely to cause eyestrain and I don't want a headache when I'm looking for products at work where I have a relatively small screen. Not everyone has a large expensive LCD screen like I'm using here at home.

Finally, if there was one thing any retailer could do to solve a problem you have with online shopping, what would it be? Or, if you prefer, just tell us something another retailer does that you'd like to see MoreComputers.com do.

The main thing problem with online shopping is the way back orders often fail to work, with credit cards being charged and goods never arriving, pre-ordered items arriving late or never, delivery times often being unknown or just wildly inaccurate. It can be a minefield of potential irritation. Some retailers even show stock of a product they don't actually have at their premises and when ordered at a seemingly low price the goods never arrive which they blame on stock errors. It would be wonderful to back-order a favourite item that is temporarily out of stock or pre-order a new hot product safe in the knowledge of when it would arrive and the price. Even scan don't have the ideal system for this, although when they did have a problem with an item I back-ordered they were more than helpful although I did end up cancelling the order. Even better would be if you knew what you wanted but couldn't find it, you could ask a retailer to find it, quote a price and then order it in for you. This is something we do all the time at work for our customers, as the distribution sector and company I work in is very service based.

Hope that helps more computers improve their site and services. Hope I win some stuff too.

Was there anything you particularly liked about the MoreComputers.com site?

Layout of the website is easy to follow
Everything is clearly labelled; it’s not hard to find out information regarding delivery, tracking, etc

Was there anything you really didn't like about the MoreComputers.com site?

    Too much white space
Not too keen on the pink
Search function is not the best in the world

Finally, if there was one thing any retailer could do to solve a problem you have with online shopping, what would it be? Or, if you prefer, just tell us something another retailer does that you'd like to see MoreComputers.com do.

    1. Was there anything you particularly liked about the MoreComputers.com site?
I'm a big fan of customer reviews, so having these available for a lot of items make it much more likely that I'll buy a highly rated product.

    2. Was there anything you really didn't like about the MoreComputers.com site?
Nothing that I particularly disliked, although I think more categorisation of some products might be useful (Speakers for example could be sorted into 2.0, 2.1, 5.1, 7.1 etc).

    3. Finally, if there was one thing any retailer could do to solve a problem you have with online shopping, what would it be? Or, if you prefer, just tell us something another retailer does that you'd like to see MoreComputers.com do.
I can't emphasise enough how important customer service is. I think sometimes that this can be forgotten in business that operate predominantly online, but having the ability to phone and have a friendly, knowledgeable person at the other end almost immediately (Scan Computers come to mind) makes me order from places like here a lot more often (than Ebuyer for example).

Re: HEXUS.winners - win4FREE competitions :: win £550 of Logitech kit from MoreComput

Was there anything you particularly liked about the MoreComputers.com site?

    - Primary site navigation bar is simple and practical with the use of tabs.
    - Search bar shares the navigational bar so it is easy to find and most importantly returned good search results for the products I searched for, even without entering the full name of a product, and also allows searches for part/product codes.
    - Clean aligned boxed sections on home page showing products (Computers, Peripherals, Networks) with more sections below also aligned neatly.
    - Product information all listed on the same page with tabs to provide additional information/options keeping the different services separate from the main content while only being a click away.
-Additional Images for products were very high quality (Far better than on any of the retailers I regularly visit).
-Reviews / comments for products, which can be one of the most important factors for determining the service users receive from the site and how good the condition of products received were.
-Youtube video reviews were a nice touch, allowing users to vote for how useful the videos are, is also a good idea, having user input and giving the site feedback at the same time.
    -Lots of payment options.
-Clearly listed information, delivery and returns info couldn't have been easier to find, products in stock and delivery time and and price are all listed next to the items providing all the info needed in the same window.
-Hacker tested by Comodo is also a plus as I use their Firewall software and find it the best available.

Was there anything you really didn't like about the MoreComputers.com site?

When I log onto your site the first thing that draws my attention is the offers on the bottom left side of the page (for Plusnet Broadband and Free Photo Paper) due to the colour, making these the most prominent parts of the site, which isn't the best idea.

Style was the major problem I had with the site, whilst lots of information was listed it was all in the same font style and colour and very tightly grouped together with a plain white background making it tiring to read and bland.

I didn't like the left hand navigation bar mainly due to it being smaller than all the offers and advertisements below it and also a lot plainer with grey background and black text.

Increasing the space between the left hand side navigation bar and the sites main content would make the site feel less crowded, also adding more sections to the left-side nav bar would require users to click less to find what they are after (If a coloured font is used for a section and the sub-sections use black then this becomes clear and more functional).
    - Adding colour to the navigational bar would also make it stand out more and the extra navigation sections would move the offers (Broadband ect..) further down the page making them less prominent.

    - The site doesn't stretch to my full monitor resolution which is pretty bad since the content is so tightly packed.
    - The images on the home page were low quality especially compared to the high quality additional images I viewed when looking at products.
    - The pink box surrounding used to indicate price savings was too attention grabbing.
    - Search function was slow.

Finally, if there was one thing any retailer could do to solve a problem you have with online shopping, what would it be? Or, if you prefer, just tell us something another retailer does that you'd like to see MoreComputers.com do.

An additional feature a site like yours could do with is an introduction or guide section for components like the memory, you could have a small section that helps first time buyers that are unsure what these components actually do or how to fit them. A simple description of what RAM actually does and what would the ideal amount be for the customers needs. More advanced information would also be good, helping them find out what sort of RAM they might need (I'm pretty sure running a small free application like CPUZ will tell them this, but having a little link to a help section with this type info would be a huge help and may lead to customers with no knowledge of pc components browsing the section).

A Forum is also a good idea so users can discuss their difficulties and sort out delivery problems and hardware faults with both the site advisers and other site users. Maybe with a reward scheme for helpful users to boost interactivity.

It's a shame I can't access the MoreComputers site for some reason.

Opera Just gives me an error page (although it does load the favicon for some reason) and IE7 just sits there.

Can anyone from MoreComputers tell me if they are doing guessing my location by my IP? I'm connecting though a satellite link in the Altlantic (just off Nigeria, not that it makes any difference) and it it routed though Germany I believe.

    1. Was there anything you particularly liked about the MoreComputers.com site?

The easy to find and easy to use serch function that lets you narrow down your results really well

    2. Was there anything you really didn't like about the MoreComputers.com site?

The small gray text type they use is sometimes very hard to read, there is a lot of blank space around the text so the text could easly be bigger.

    3. Finally, if there was one thing any retailer could do to solve a problem you have with online shopping, what would it be?

Use a teleportation device to deliver products as it would be fast and cheap

Or if you want to live in the real world a small instantly usable talk box which a admin could keep a watch over for every product so you could get a instant responce about a question you may have about a product it would make people a lot happyer about there perchase ( though may take a lot more employes )

    1. Was there anything you particularly liked about the MoreComputers.com site?
    a. Items that are low on stock have a warning when you add the item to you're basket. This is a good clear point.
    b. The "Choose a delivery option" dropdown menu states exactly what the delivery times are without having to look anywhere else.
    c. When viewing the list of products it remembers how many "Products per page" I had set.

    2. Was there anything you really didn't like about the MoreComputers.com site?
    a. There is no 'All/Everything' option for "Products per page" when viewing items. The max is 30 items.
    b. The right hand column has items that are also at the bottom of the page. Payment options, Website security which if removed would balance the left and right columns.
    c. The phone number is hard to find. The "Contact Us" link; then the "how to contact us section" link. Which displays an FAQ which if looked through contains a contact number. The "Contact us" page should contain the office address, phone number and email addresses all in one page.

    3. Finally, if there was one thing any retailer could do to solve a problem you have with online shopping, what would it be? Or, if you prefer, just tell us something another retailer does that you'd like to see MoreComputers.com do.
    a. When viewing items some of the "Category" options are in bold (Memory, Processors, Printer toners etc.). Other sites have these as separate sub menus, which allows for easier viewing and finding of items.

Re: HEXUS.winners - win4FREE competitions :: win £550 of Logitech kit from MoreComput

    1. Was there anything you particularly liked about the MoreComputers.com site?
The categories are nicely laid out on the homepage. They themselves are also nicely organized with pictures and important information.

    2. Was there anything you really didn't like about the MoreComputers.com site?
The pink. I personally don't have anything against the color, but it makes the site look less serious. I would try a blue, which tends to look more professional. The homepage also has way too much stuff on it. I saw that the payment options and security informations are two times on the same site (bottom and right). Most sites have them on the bottom and I personally like it that way. Having them again on the left just makes the page look messy and doesn't provide any more information. Oh, and no offense, but that newsletter signup field looks plain ugly. I wouldn't trust that low-res, pink guy with my E-Mail address. It simply doesn't look very convincing to sign up. The images in general look blurry to me. I think that's due to compression, which helps people with slow internet connections, but for high-speed users it looks quite ugly. A suggestion would be to maybe have two versions of the page, one for dial-up and one for high-speed. It could be a start page, which creates a cookie, so every person only sees it once.

    3. Finally, if there was one thing any retailer could do to solve a problem you have with online shopping, what would it be? Or, if you prefer, just tell us something another retailer does that you'd like to see MoreComputers.com do.
Pictures, pictures, pictures. I always like seeing loads of images of products before buying them. It would really help if MoreComputers could have more pictures of their products. Preferably high-resolution ones, too. It just takes away a lot of time googleing, which would be a big plus for the site. Hireing a photographer, who has a lightbox and a DSLR camera, could get you these pics. Some online shops already offer some sort of extra pictures, but many don't.

So much criticism, I know. But I think this is exactly what you were looking for when making this giveaway. There is no use for comments that say that everything is perfect. You are trying to improve, so criticism is what you need. Good luck with morecomputers.com!

Just to answer the question of people not seeing our site from outside the UK - We do restrict IPs from most non UK addresses, hence people seeing blank pages.

Thanks to everyone who's entered and given their feedback - it's all good stuff.

Still time to enter - it's on until the end of August.

Well that is a real shame. I guess I'll just continue to use Scan for pretty much all my component shopping.

All orders are on a UK card and sent to a UK address. It's just me that happens to be in strange countries around the world killing time (and my wages) by online shopping.
