I'm certain there was an Apache style helicopter in GTA:VC (I'm not talking about the remote control model bomb carrying one)
Back on topic - video doesn't give much away but I have confidence the final product will be more than a rehash of old ideas with pretty graphics. Albeit the changes may be incremental rather than a massive leaps. I can live without multiplayer IF the game world is fully immersive.

The Apache was great funGrand Theft Auto: Vice City Hint: Getting the Apache Chopper
For those who want to fly the Apache but don't want to get all 100 hidden packeges, get a cop uniform from the Washington Beach Police Department. Use any chopper to fly into the army base. Go to the northwest corner to find theApache. If you don't have the cop uniform, the soldiers will shoot you out of the sky.
The apache is always awesome. The San Andreas one was awesome with vigilante mode you could make billions
What's the chances you can ride the rollercoaster??
Knowing GTA, wouldn't surprise me at all if you could.
Stuff that, i want to ride the wonderwheel.
WARRIORS, COME OUT TO PLAYAYEEEE
Do we know for sure that it's "evolution rather than revolution"? Because you certainly can't tell that from just looking at movies and screenshots.
The graphics look great, but the thing I am most interested in, is the gameplay. I thought GTA3 sucked. I liked Vice City slightly more, and my favourite of them all (besides the old original 2d games), was San Andreas.
There are only so many ho transport missions I can cope with before I get bored. Take Maria to the club. Take Suzi to the docks. Steal a car at the docks and bring it back here etc.. It's all just boring and repetitive like those horrible fed-ex quests from MMORPG's.
The reason I liked San Andreas is because the quests/missions just seemed better written. I'm not a big fan of homie gangsta crap, but I just found myself being able to play through MANY more of the missions in that game, than I ever did in GTA3 or GTA:VC. The boats, jetpack, planes, motorbikes, and the omgz harrier jumpjet... all made it miles more fun for me too. And one of the most important things was that it was much bigger. I would do a load of missions in one part of town, but then you get to go to another part of town and it felt and looked very different. The wider selection of locations just made it for me, and they also finally had roads long enough to really open up a car. You could never really do that in the other games, but in San Andreas, the map was great, similar to TD Unlimited. (I especially liked the offroad areas and also the long coast road leading back to the city from the rural out of town area).
But the biggest deal of all (imo), was the gang war / turf war element. After GTA3 and Vice City, I was pretty sure I wouldn't ever play another GTA game, because I can't be arsed with the boring missions. (And seeing "Mafia" do a MUCH better job of GTA than GTA was a big deal too..) But I gave San Andreas a chance because of all its improvements, and also because of this turf war element. They tried adding new gameplay elements and that was enough for me to buy it. I loved the game so much. The problem is, I think they didn't elaborate on that turf war thing enough. But that idea was good, and it added new elements to the game that where never in the previous versions. Fighting hoardes of people at once was kinda new, but its also holding areas and having to defend them and capture new areas.
If they can elaborate on that and/or maybe even add other new ideas, I think the series will just keep getting greater. San Andreas I thought was a masterpiece, and if they can keep the progress going, I think GTA4 will be great.
If not.. it'll have to be Mafia 2
