That is a real shame. I've had Abit boards since I started building PCs on my own and other than the weird FP-IN9 (due to the 650i chipset) they have all been good and lasted years.
Here's hoping that Abit make a return one day...
Sad news indeed.
Abit will absolutely be missed
Quality boards and service, fair prices on the whole, they are certainly a loss.
The only other boards I really like are Asus and their support is terrible..
Just after I switched back.....
Guess this means Asus will go further downhill with less competition to worry about :S

I've never had the opportunity to use an Abit mobo but it's a real shame to have an influential player leave the sector, as mentioned above, for competition sake it's not good.

Not good.
Hmmm that's my favourite motherboard manufacturer gone. Bad news all around I reckon for the enthusiasts...
Old puter - still good enuff till I save some pennies!
Not good, but ASUS were always the bigger company and they will continue to dominate in this field.
Terrible news
Abit have made so many great boards. The lack of competition can only be bad for the consumer.
ding dang dong... thats a shame...
at least ASUS' CS can't get any worse... just hope they retain board quality...
Sad news indeed. They made great boards.
Not around too often!
It's certainly a possibility as it's a cutthroat market but I think that I'll wait for an official confirmation.
Would seem a waste of the brand name/recognition though.
very sad indeed! i had a system built back in 2002 by scan using the abit it7 motherboard and its still going strong its become part of the family the kids call him Compy and we occasionally take him for walks.
Problem with ABIt was their mid to high end boards were over prices for what they were. Yes their high end boards were good, but no better than other makers high end boards.
Money is made in the mid and low end market and Abit's boards were generally uninteresting or special.
So who's next to go.... DFI perhaps?
