I doubt it will disappear as purely on the Duke Nukem name alone they know they will get the sales from it. Someone will snap it up or will be given the rights to franchise and I guess it will be another few years of news and non deliveries xD
This game could either be the biggest joke in the world or a curse for whoever takes it on. I would place my bets on it being released sometime when the only blue moon appears

All the stuff that has been released so far shows it was shaping up to be a pretty decent game. Wasnt going to set the world on fire but wasnt going to be a daikatana at least.
You`d hope someone would pay to get this finished and released after all it does seem like there wasnt much more to do.
How can you possibly judge that on what's been released so far?
Again I don't see that being the case at all - have you seen any videos of the bugs that will be present in the build? You`d hope someone would pay to get this finished and released after all it does seem like there wasnt much more to do.
The same thing happens to games in other forums - a few screenshots and videos get released and everyone assumes the game is 99% complete and should be released tommorow.. then when it's released after 6 months of further work they all complain that it should never have been released in such an 'unfinished' state

The gameplay video shows the characters in an unfished level and then in the proper background and the movement looks slick. The bosses look huge as you`d expect and the pigs movements look a lot better and more realistic(if you can get that from pig/humans
Maybe there is a lot left to do but it would be a shame for such a long running game development to end like that.
I remember playing the original duke for 12 hours solid using a serial cable and it was loads of fun. The video looks like it would have been fun and the screens show a lot of imagination gone into the bad guys and weapons.
Thats my opinion though. I really hope someone picks it up as it would be a shame for duke to die like this
i kinda hope someone buys it up and finishes it and we get a release sometime soon.
they say it was close to completion so who knows maybe we might get it this year.
And before anyone says it no i am not high i don't think so anyway the talking crackpipe says i am fine
Lol I remember playing old Duke Nukem on my P166MHz
I wonder if it's really such a non-brainer of an investment. I suppose that part of it is how much is completed and how cheaply can the assets be bought for. But I am not sure how much the name is 'worth' these days. Younger gamers who have never played the franchise probably only know the game as vaporeware. And while there are many of us wanting to see Duke back, I wonder how many fans of the original have moved on from gaming. And as far as marketing to new players is concerned, is a macho guy with attitude and some (cool) one-liners enough to sell nowadays? Basically, the product will have to be pretty darn good for the game to sell IMO because the brand is probably not what it used to be.
I wonder if it really is any good, surely as 3d Realms were going under. Why didn't they sell the IP and the unfinished code to make some money to maybe keep going a bit longer.
I also agree with TooNice, if they wanted to make some money they should have got a blooming move on.
