It seems most of the performance metrics they used were with RTX on unless i missed the 'normal' (rasterisation) metrics, it will be interesting to see how much of a performance uplift there is on non-RTX stuff.

nVidia don't live in the real world. No wonder they lost the console space to AMD...their business practices are wildly unrealistic.
omitting the fact of how much time passed from 10th series, and that 2080ti was not much faster than 1080ti, then yes...
I agree
They are still pushing the top card price, 1200 was not enough, so they just dropped performance on purpose to fill the gap between 3800 and 3900.
now time for benchmarks, 4k120 stable on 3800 then it's worth the money. If less than 4k90 average its a failure, as this is the enthusiast level of performance people needs today, 4k60/qhd@90 its a mid level. Even XBox knows that.
Trade-in prices are already falling.
Yesterday, CEX would pay £191 for a GTX1080. Today it's down to £155.
All I'd like is for these cards to support the playback of 4k UHD blu-rays.
3070 is looking good for my next upgrade
this stinks of plz don't leave me and buy a console I'll go broke ..
amd should be able to come in here and knock the 3070 and 3080 off at there lvl ..
not sure they have anything at the 3090 lvl tho .. that is an impressive card but it should be for the price
What does it matter now if men believe or no?

The 3070 is looking really appealing I must say. 2080ti performance for under £500 is really tempting.
Instead of trying to justify your own viewpoint by selectively quoting please quote/read the whole comment because the context makes a huge difference.... something can be expensive and still be 'good value' in context.
In the world of 3D Design £1400 IS good value for a graphics card with 24GB of memory, it's £1000 cheaper than the current titan rtx and £2600 cheaper than a quadro rtx 6000 with less performance (assuming software is updated).... I would not be paying that much if it was purely for gaming but if I'm going to be using it for gpu based 3D rendering, which I would be, then that actually is a good buy, relatively speaking.
The second hand market is going to be interesting, anyone trying to offload a 2080/2080ti is not going to get decent money for them. It might force those people to hang on to them and skip 3 series.
Some driver changes coming: Looks like they've re-branded low-latency (0-frame render ahead) yet again, now it's called 'Reflex'. Geforce Experience is also getting an auto-overclock tuning toggle.

A lot of talk about prices, these were launch prices for (non-FE) the x70 tier:
- 970: £280
- 1070: £380
- 2070: £380
The 3070 is £470, a whopping increase on that tier. It might be "good" value for money if it really does out perform a 2080Ti, but so far I've only seen those claims on RTX titles, and as we all know, RTX is not the be-all of performance. A lot of us rather RTX-off with greater performance (for shooters, I'd rather 144fps with RTX off than 60fps with RTX on).
The 3070 is the only one piquing my interest, as it's the closest to a justifiable cost (still painfully large imo).
But wow, have you seen the AIP images so far? They look horrific! And also painfully big. No frills card that fits nicely in two slots for me please. I don't have room for cards that obstruct the use of a third PCIe slot (mine are full).
