I think it's about the best thing Ninty could have hoped for, it'll be interesting to see what the sales figures are like

Jim Armour: Not that I know of but it’s feasible. Don’t forget that HD DVD, unlike Blu-ray, is region-free, which would fit in nicely with Microsoft’s region-free games policy but no, there’s no plans that I know of.
I'm going for the Wii this November. The PS3 can DIAF for all I care (And I'll have the opportunity to buy one this November too).Originally Posted by Odc

See System Specs.
The DRM is identical. (AACS)Originally Posted by Bull Dog

tbh this doesnt surprise me one little bit. sony have been having massive problems with this thing and i cant see the first few shipments being problem free either
hehe I think Sony and Blizzard must work on the same guidelines
Living and dying laughing and crying
Once you have seen it you will never be the same
Life in the fast lane is just how it seems
Hard and it is heavy dirty and mean
1st Sony dude: "Looks like we're going to have trouble meeting demand."
2nd Sony dude: "What do you mean?"
1st Sony dude: "We ain't got enough of those laser diode thingies."
2nd Sony dude: "Those what?"
1st Sony dude: "I don't know... don't ask me, I'm only the chief hardware architect!"
2nd Sony dude: "Oh well, I guess we can just not bother shipping to four continents; nobody will notice."
1st Sony dude: "Good plan!"
Is anyone really surprised at this? I have been very sceptical about the PS3 release date for about 6 months now. I think Sony probably knew it would not be launching in Europe this year a while ago but didn't admit to it to try and reduce sales of the Xbox 360. I think they have been very misleading with this and it is unforgivable to wait until just 10 weeks before launch to actually admit that it is being delayed.
Now what are the chances of it launching around the rest of the world in sufficient quantities to satisfy demand...
Get ready for announcements of shortages etc.

Mwahahahahahah. Sony, what a class act. Yet again they screw up big style
i'm not *surprised* but a little disappointed. wasnt the xbox launch over here delayed too? i can't remember..
still, gives me a bit more time to save up..

I thought HD-DVD was region free, i'm sure it was said on an interview on hexus.lifestyle i think. I couldn't help but laugh when i heard the ps3 was delayed, made my dayOriginally Posted by Stoo

The point is, though, Sony have been promising a worldwide launch for the past two years
There's a reason a 117 year old playing card company's share price is currently double that of Japan's best-known electronics firm
Sony do seem to be slipping a little recently, I think this was aknowledged recently by some high profile changes (not just in the PS3 sector).
Some of the things I can think of are:
Sony Vaio range selling slowly and waaay too expensive. Looks distincly awkward when you can buy a Dell for around £400.
Sony PS3 slip
Blu-Ray/HD-DVD battle has meant Betamax has come back to haunt it and yet they are trying to do the same again!?
Laptop batteries in Dell and now Panasonic.
