Just watched FOCUS - the new conman film with Will Smith and Margot Robbie. Cool hustle film mixed with romance etc. Not a full action pic by any means. Did keep me guessing. And Margot looked as fine as usual.

Hobbit - Battle of the five armies - 7/10
Decent romp, considerably better than the previous 2 due to noticeably less "extreme elfing" from Mr Bloom.....

For a religious romp I quite enjoyed it, probably more so because it was done in a way where you didn't have to be religious to still believe the events could have happened. Much better than Noah as well!

Big Hero 6 - 8/10
My neice was staying over at the weekend so we got in the popcorn and fizzy sweets and let her pick a movie. Really good movie, then again I'm one of those parents who enjoys kids movies!
Cars 2 - It was OK. A lot of UK voice talent, decent story. 7/10. Wife's score in minutes until fall asleep: 45.
Man of Steel - Great visuals and a marked improvement over Superman Returns in virtually every department but my word... The last ten/fifteen minutes where he and Zod basically lay waste to Metropolis didn't half take me out of it. Not because it wasn't the Superhuman battle royale it should have been but there were just too many implied casualities for a fight involving the big blue boy scout.
Oh and one more thing... If you have to have a character in your story go all Anakin Skywalker on you and shout "NOOOOO!" just to imply that they didn't want to do what they just had to do then your storytelling and character development are clearly weaker than wet newspaper.
Fury - better than i expected although at times i had to double check i wasn't watching a star wars film with the large tracer rounds going all over the screen. pacing was off a couple of times in the film but otherwise told a better than average story. plus for me was seeing allied soldiers portrayed as something other than your usual stoic heroes that most WW2 films show, 'coon-ass' played by Jon Berthnal was the most interesting character in the film
Agreed I really enjoyed Fury, much more than I thought i would. Saw Interstellar the other night and was a bit underwhelmed with it really, however saw a low budget film on Netflix called The Machine and was really good in an 80's sci-fi dystopia kind of way. Great cast and great storyline, check it out if you have Netflix
Saw 'Pride' the other night - fab piece of social history in a highly amusing story. All about the London gay and lesbian movement's support of a Welsh pit village during the miner's strike of 1984/85. Certainly an eye opener for me!
It's weird that, isn't it? The tracer thing I mean. That and the tank crew working together, moving the turret onto target etc reminded me of Star Wars as well in a very Millenium Falcon type way. Which I thought was a really strange parallel to draw until I remembered that all of those sequences in Star Wars are straight up World War 2 dog fights and tank battles in space. Apparently Lucas even went as far as to lift aircraft formations and camera moves from old WW2 footage. It's so odd and cyclical and strangely a testament to the work done by the effects teams in Star Wars that I can barely wrap my head around it!
Just finished watching an old movie. Fast Times at Ridgemont High. Had never seen it before, pretty much an 80's teen movie, but funny seeing lots of stars at the start of their careers and of course that scene.
Interstellar - 8/10
Was good but felt there were too many overly-dramatised sections where small sequences were dragged out with a musical score pounding away.......

Watched this last night, was pretty good. Wasn't expecting much from it but was pleasantly surprised. Worth a watch.
