Nildram also roll any unused allowance into the the next month (but only the previous month's allowance - i.e. you can never have an allowance > 100GB) - which is nice.

I knew Nildram had some aggressive traffic filtering in place a couple of months ago (At peak times).

Not sure what its like now but was part of the reason i left after over 2 years with them.

Back to Virgin. There are a fair number of aggrieved people with the speed cap. Some areas in terms of issues with equipment can vary, largely because of inherited equipment days of the likes of Diamond Cable Bradford Cable etc.

Overall apart from the additional stress that the 20mb upgrade have placed on the network that have occasioned outages, I have to say I am very happy with the service.

The speed cap is 5 mb/sec on the 20 Mb service the amount you download is not capped, it is still unlimited.

In the Yorkshire area my pings are fine, no issues at all.

Yep - For most places I get 250ms ping. No less. (Websites)

WoW server - Between 500 and 650ms ping.
On the occasional evening - up to 3k, disconnects etc.

NEVER go with Virgin for gaming.
    For p2p - Excellent - Over 250mb/s no problem.
    For gaming - Rubbish.

There's a PC Magazine article that's on their Web site now that might be worth reading if you're looking for an ISP. I'm not allowed to post URLs yet, but the title is "Analysis: The White Lies ISPs Tell About Broadband Speeds". As of today, there's still a link to it on the front page.

    Here's the article:
    http://www.pcmag.com/print_article2/...=210995,00.asp

I'm not sure many ISPs would answer those questions, given how vague they are on "fair use", but you could probably work out the answers with a bit of searching.

Nildram have gone rapidly downhill recently - DNS issues, speed problems, customer service (which used to be second-to-none).

I subsequently moved to UKFSN after over 4 years with Nildram and 5 months later things are all rosey.
