Via RhineII + BT Business Hub = ?!

trying to get a p4 machine with an onboard rhine II network card to play nicely with a BT Business Hub, it will connect, and data will be transferred. i can ping and traceroute both the router and websites, but cannot browse them or access the routers address-setup-screen-thing. seems to take an age to actually get a connection as well.

there's another comp in the office, and that works perfectly well. so i know the router DOES work ad the internet connection is working

fresh install of xp, windows drivers and via's own drivers make no difference.

    chuck some ideas at me!

Anything else you can use to access the Hub to check on settings?

Sometimes I can connect in seconds by typing "Home" into a browser window, other times it takes ages. "home/management" is a handy area too.

I have a few spare NICs for testing if you'd like one.

Re: Via RhineII + BT Business Hub = ?!

iv got onto the hub from the other computer, settings are all fine and dandy - dhcp is on but iv tried the problem comp with a fixed address as well. makes no difference. it "feels" as if its being firewalled, but its not.. well any more than the working computer is. and windows firewall is off

im going to try a usb wireless stick tomorrow just to see if that makes any difference.. not voerly confident though because something just isnt right

Re: Via RhineII + BT Business Hub = ?!

stop it auto sensing the speed, the router could be auto sensing one thing and the card another giving you a missmatch. I used to get this with some Cisco switches, very annoying.

Set the card to 100 full duplex.

I had a few HP desktops with on board NICs that didn't work with the BT hub. I had to install new NICs. When I came to update a few things recently I tried the on board NICs again and they worked fine.

I never did work out what was going on.
