    BBC2 won't let me watch

    Hello:

I am located in the USA, and I am trying to watch a BBC2 archived program, but when I click "Click to play", I am rudely :-) being told "Not available in your area". Now, I don't thing that is fair, and I wonder if there is any way I can trick BBC into believing I am in an approved area (probably the UK)?

    Regards,

    Hans L

go in through a UK based proxy (i can't think of one off the top of my head.. but a google should suffice )

They are locked because you don't pay for BBC (it has no adverts) i.e. it assumes you have no UK TV licence. The only way to get around it, as suggested, is to trick it by using a proxy.

In fairness we can't watch shows from your US channels either!

Perhaps it could be made available at a cost of £139.50 per year, like it costs in the uk?

    Pants
that's just reminded me that my tv licence is due next month... it (life) gets very expensive this time of year!

Tigs - do it via direct debit - breaks it up and as far as I am aware has no extra charge attached

I think it is fair, do you pay the licence fee . . . NO so no BBC for you. As said we cant get access to American channels, so either look elsewhere for a torrent, or again as said try and go through a proxy.

Sorry I am late with answer, but I have not gotten any notifications lately.

Fair – well, I was just whining :-)

Torrent, hm, I basically know what you mean, and I will look. Proxy – not so safe, perhaps, but I guess i have to risk something. As I do not want to go through a proxy all the time, is there any way to invoke the proxy in Firefox only when you want it?

Tools-Options- Advanced-Network-Settings- Stick in the proxy settings then when done re tick the direct connection to the internet check button.

Interesting, do you mean it worked? Because when i was traveling round Europe, I tried a few proxies and they were all blocked. I admit I didn't try for long, but maybe I just was unlucky.
