BT HomeHub - all its hyped up to be?

Hey guys,

Just wondering if anyone has first hand knowledge on the Homehub, got one - its still sitting in its sealed original packaging..... cant bear myself to set it up as my good ol' Linksys equipment seems to do the job fine and its the only equipment we've had thats not caused Xbox 360 gaming too many probs.... but must fess up that its recently been really laggy lately.

Which Home Hub is it? the Black one with Phone or the whilte one?

After limited time using a HomeHub it wasn't anything spectacular and doesn't bring any extra benefits apart from the IP phone, which was never used. From what I can see the only people hyping up the HomeHub is BT themselves.

I'm not sure if there are newer HomeHub's around now but this is experience from about 18 months ago, they may have improved.

They are over hyped by BT and not that well though of by the tech community.

if its not the black one its pap. if it is the black one it is an unknown quantity

got a postcard about the black one the other day, if its like the old home hub + 802.11n it will be poo - but if its like the business hub + 802.11n then it could be rather tasty

Well I use a 'white beastie' and it's ok for me -never fall over etc . Mind you , all i'm after is a stable link not technical perfection. Now I like the IP phone but some people that I ring don't . Can't really comment on the 'black one's' but some people say they can be worse than the 'white one's' .

Hey,
i have the BT home hub version 2. the one with wireless N.
every so often the phone unregisters itself from the hub.
bt are aware of the issue and its meant to be fixed soon.

max uptime i had i think was 24days. by uptime i mean uptime of the hub before it rebooted itself.

so by what you say even if you leave it permanently on, it will still reboot after a period of time
unless i guess if i manually reboot it myself...

but mainly i wondered if it is better for connection issues??

My mate has one, he says its a load of bullpoop just like the old homehub. He keeps getting cut off the wireless network. I would leave it in its box

The original white one was just a rebranded speedtouch 536 with ports removed I think

yes i leave it on all the time and after roughly 24days it reboots itself. so im then offline for around 2mins and then it reconnects. of course you can reboot it yourself if you have issues.
unless you use the phone for cheap calls just buy a decent router.
