Take a guess what this job pays....

The position is located in Manchester

They are looking for someone with a mix of skills including Windows 2003 Server, Exchange Server, Windows 2000 network & PC operating system, & Unix. You will be required to have experience of user support in a Windows environment and have the ability to configure hardware and software PC's, Servers and other IT ancillary equipment. You should have a working knowledge of Windows 2000 network & PC operating system and MS Office Pro. You will be working involved in the implementation and support of the IT networks for their in house users and will need to possess excellent customer facing/communication skills. The technical environment is running a mixture of Windows 03/XP & Unix Other technologies include Windows Server, Exchange, Active Directory and Networking such as TCP/IP, DNS, and DHCP etc. If you have any of these skills then please highlight this in your application. However, if you don't full training will be given in areas where you skills are weaker. A driving licence is also required as this job requires travel to their North East offices at least once a month

I called them and they said that you must have Unix experience so the training statment is not true and what they want is an experienced Unix admin.

    take your guess...

It's a scam to get people to register with the agency - I've seen 6 or seven ads with almost identical wording it various locations around the country while I've been searching of late.

If it is as laughable as some of the jobs up here asking the earth and then offering the likes of £17k for a job worth 26+

I guess around £28k - £35k? Seems to me like the candidate would be a bit of a dogs body running about doing everything.

I think you are correct with that.

Watch out for Senitor Associates, they seem to be the worst for it.

I'm saying around £26k, definitely sub £30k. They typically want this kind of role to be a jack of all trades, but I agree the agency are probably "trolling" (if that's the right word!).

I was offered a job yesterday for a hardware engineer to fault find and fix various hardware products that they manufacturer. Any guess as to the salary for that... it was a bit of a piss take, I had to stop myself laughing down the phone at them

Is that what people think a *NIX admin is worth these days? Right, the time has come to don a tie and ascend the ranks of the project management ladder. It's a dark day!

Re: Take a guess what this job pays....

Thats crazy, I get paid more than that and I'm a tree hugger! I always thought that IT was a better paid industry, all these adverts on the tv "get IT training and earn £30k"... looks like you'd be lucky to get anythign close to that without a degree or masters in it.
