    Be* Latency & Jitter?

    Hello,

I'm with Virgin Media at the moment, in North London, and the gaming performance is terrible. High ping, high jitter, random disconnects constantly... It's virtually unplayable with rare exceptions throughout the early hours of the morning.

So! I was thinking of switching to a better provider for gaming, and I've heard that Be* is possibly the best.

I just want the fastest possible internet, so if anyone knows one better than Be*, then please let me know.

Ping of under 20 and Jitter below 1ms. How can I achieve these numbers with what ISP?

Will Be*'s packages be able to supply that? Will the higher packages provide better gaming performance or not?

    Thank you

BE would be fine, however the router they supply sucks, but if you get your own you could use the basic package and have a almost perfect jitter/ping

I only know this as ive done just that XD

I agree, the provided router is garbage. I use a Netgear DG834GT with DGTeam firmware installed. They sell for ~£15 on fleabay.

Router and modem are different, do they supply a bad modem? I'm confused when you say they supply a bad router, that implies they will send a modem and a router, to me...

I connect directly to my modem via ethernet, but my wife is wireless on her laptop.

Well yes, they are. But unless you have a cable internet service, your router will include a modem, just like every other ADSL router (only the ones listed as a "broadband router" don't, at consumer level at least).
