    Re: O2 Price rise

Spoke to soon. An almost £3 price jump? I've only been with them for 6 months. Might well take offer to leave (assuming anyone can point out a better alternative).

Edit: Orange have offer at £10 if your an existing customer... I'm not (o2) but think my dad has PAYG? Might be worth the switch if only a matter of principle (and the £70 quidco is good as well).

Received the email today. They are putting the prices up to £13 I am on the old Premium package and using my mate's O2 mobile to get the £5 discount
Huge increase, but I will stay with them as atm I am happy with the service.

Interesting - I got the email first! Annoyingly it looks like they are still good value so not sure what i'll do yet although still annoyed at a 30% increase.

    Bit of a Hijack,

Are we sure O2 are in bretch of contract for raising the price? I only ask because although i was able to leave easy, my sister is having a job with them.

She received a letter stating she signed a 12 month contract and needs to pay the rest of the contract....what the hell? lol help!

    Re: O2 Price rise

Good topic discussion, I've had a few experiences with ISPs, I think more recently though traffic shaping is becoming more of an issues.

It almost makes me think of rush hour on the roads. From a PC gamer mag I read the other day it did say the P2P internet traffic makes up a big percentage of total taffic. It went on to say that most (if not all) providers make interent gaming a priority it busy periods.

I've now join virgin media business, although exspensive to setup, i think for 59 pounds i get free calls and a (20mb but almost avg about 4 mbs real DL) awesome interent contection. Down side beeing 24 month contract, 100 install fee and 150 to move location however they will disconnect A and start B with 2 teams on said day.

    3. We believe we offer a fantastic value for money broadband and home phone service. However you can leave without penalty if you tell us within 30 days of receiving your price change notification letter or email. Call 0800 230 0202 and choose option 1 (Home Broadband), 5 (Leaving O2), then 2 (Leaving O2). If you don’t contact us before 31st March 2011 then the new prices will take effect from your first bill date after that.

Be there. There is absolutely no such thing as a proper unlimited service, just different degrees of interference. BE (and old O2) kept it at the absolute minimum.

    Re: O2 Price rise

Well, i believe sky to offer the only true unlimited service, but that is just what i have read (no fair usage policy so must be unlimited?)

I've personally gone with talk talk, i dont download alot so didnt need a unlimited service, the occasion i will download a steam game or ps3 update/game but thats about it. My mate is on the essentials package which is really working out for him and his gaming habits (which are btw the same as mine XD) so i've gone with the plus package just to make sure i go active on the 1st so if anyone wants to know how good it is im more than happy to let you know XD

    Re: O2 Price rise

Fair usage policy under Be includes not using your connection for illegal purposes like spamming or DoS attacks.

but otherwise with regards to bandwidth, Bethere is realistically unlimited with zero traffic shaping. This is coming from an actual user.

OK point proven, anyhow what about people who have a contract with O2 which includes the homephone? your aloud to break out of your broadband package but what about the homephone? this would leave some kind of breach on O2s end wouldnt it? seems as they cannot offer the deal? correct?
