    Blueyonder Upgrades

    Telewest have announced to the delight of their customers (well, me at least! ) that their service will be upgraded, for free, from 750k to 1Mb in the first two months of 2005. I have also read that from November 2004 they will be reducing the price of their existing 750k service from £27.99 to £25 per month.

    So basically we are gonna end up paying £2.99 LESS for a 1/3 increase in speed!

    The only small issue I have is the fact that Telewest are upgrading the upload speed of their 'new' 4Mb (present 3Mb service is being upgraded!) service to 384kb from whilst keeping the upload speed of all other broadband packages at 128k, which is half of that offered by most other broadband ISPs.

    But i can't complain really, I chose to be with Telewest and am really chuffed with the free upgrade to my service.

    I hope Telewest see fit to increase the upload speed to 256 for all of their broadband products!

    At least they are putting up the upload limit...

    on NTL only the current 1/1.5 meg plan has 250 Kbps upload. everything else is 150 K i think. Even when they put everything up to 1/2/3 Mbps they are leaving the upload the same. If the upload was 400 Kbps for the expensive one it would be worth getting. Ill go back down to the lowest pack when they do 1 Mbps is more then enough for me.

    I have to admit the 1mbit ntl package is very good thou, as I visit home sometimes (coventry) from newcastle. Whilst 300k is ok for browsing, being able to burst to 1mbit would be good. Although will they still have that 64k upstream for 1mbit downstream?

    It *always* was 256 for everything above the old 512k(now 750). I guess you are happy and didn't even realise

    PS If i see you walking round Gateshead with a pink handbag I will be forced to laugh

    I thought Blueyonder was 128k up-load for all except the current 3mb service which is currently 256 up (and is becoming 4mb down and 384 up)???

    Is the NTL 300K only 64 Kbps upload? i thought it was 150K like the 600/750 Kbps pack.

    My 3megabit is 256kbps up, and so is 1.5megabit. 750kbps <= 128kbps upstream.
