Careful, Cable broadband + lots of students on that segment can = contention hell + latency spikes!

ADSL isnt so bad (capacity is spread across the linecard you connect to).

    Damn NTL.

WTF! I am, according to them, supposed to download one 100mb piece of software a month? How stupid are these people? Game patches are bigger than that half the time.

And a bit WTF to their online gaming policy - online gaming hardly eats into network bandwidth whatsoever and they say 0.5HR/Week?

    Only NTL...

yeah i expect so, i live in a rented house and there's no probs with that, the ntl man came round selling it in september - they do door to door as there are so many students here in this part of cardiff.

phone 'em up and ask, might as well.

ooh and its not bad here for conjestion, i get upto 294kbps (usually 250) on my 2mbit line regularly.

I get 34.99999999999 kb/s maximum, which is too slow for today's stuff.

However, I always have the best ping in games for some reason.

Did this upgrade yesterday evening. How long does it take to get the faster speeds?

I went from 750k to 2Mb so I'm still paying the same.

Should be on it by now then.
If not try rebooting your modem.

I'm running on the 2MB now...

Whoops... only downloaded The Matrix Online BETA the day I got 2MB.... 1.9GB + a 1.2GB patch lol

Ho hum... no nasty letters yet

Working great... peaking about 235KB/s (which isn't bad out of a max theoretical 256KB/s (works out ~ 10% overheads - about right)

Just upgraded from 700k to 2mb over the internet. Went through straight away and i'm now getting 250Kb/s downloads

They are introducing limits of 1Gb per day though, which isn't a lot at all imo

They've been there for a long time now - they are just saying that they are going to enforce them more.

Previous guidelines was that you had to exceed 1Gb/day for several days in a row & doing that a couple of times lead to a warning letter.

Bloody hell I've done that lots and haven't got any warning letters yet. I've downloaded perhaps 20gigs over the space of varying weekends and the majority of the time one of my computers is on DC++ d/loading and up loading. Perhaps that was due to me being on the old 1mb service until I upgraded top the 3mb service now.

Gonna have to watch my self now!
