been with bulldog for a month now and had no problems but in the bulldog forums there are loads of people complaining of lack of CS support (do not return emails and 30 min wait if u call them), phone dead for days, disconnections every 10 - 15mins, slow speeds etc..
but if are willing to take a chance then you can get these speeds
Downstream 492.3 KB/sec
Upstream 62.1 KB/sec
SpeedTest
Think ill be going bulldog in next place. Get those speeds already but paying £52 a month for it!Originally Posted by chiyau
Who are you paying £52 a month lord java ?
i think hes usings cable and paying it to err blueyonder? i think...
ahh fair enough. But wait when u change over and telewest double their speeds again
...and then bulldog switch to ADSL2+ and we all get upto 18 Mb/sec download speedsOriginally Posted by Nemeliza
Bulldog ( well Cable & Wireless as they are formally known ) activate it now
yeh just that simple
BT and NTL trialing ADSL2+ but wont be seeing the fruits of that labour until 2006 at the soonest
Problem is, if they're going to rely on DOCSIS v1.x to deploy 10mbit connections, it wouldnt be worth while in some cases. I rather see a relatively stable line rather than one thats like a yo yo.Originally Posted by Nemeliza
Most of TW's network runs at QAM256 which means around 40mbit~ of raw bandwidth between a few hundred customers.
I'm not a heavy downloader, but doing basic maths here, it'll just take a few to knock it out of shape. Unless they deploy ADSL2 over the copper phone line, or plan to do some major changes, Bulldog will do fine for now.
i dont even know how they are going to go abouts it but i would really like to know how they are going to cope with all the bandwidth, especially if things take on fast.
The cable giants already have fibre networks and as mentioned have the option of using their copper networks should they need to.
I just dont want to see DSL providers have a surrering service because they allow exchanges to get overloaded and LLU still has the problem of needing a SOLID back bone to cope with ever increasing demands on each loop.
Are we going off topic here.....
Have you taken up the Bulldog offer? im still thinking about it....got few more days to make my mind up.
For easynet, its been said they'res 2x 100mbit fibre links to the exchange. For bulldog, im not sure but given their co-operation with cable + wireless, I dont see why they cannot use some of their redundant fibre network. Telewest cannot really afford to spend, given in the process of a merger soon and they just did another update to their networks. Since bulldog LLU's on 1month contract anyway, if it hits the fan badly, ill just leave.Originally Posted by Nemeliza
