Sometimes i got dc with Be*. Just make sure that you're not living far away from the exchange.

This is a tough choice....
Both seem very, very good, I checked on the adslguide forums, and near enough everyone seems to be happy with both.
I think I will have to flip a coin on this one.
If you do decide to go with BE let me know
I might go with Nildram.
I compared both Nildram and Be*, and Nildram came out top for everything, even though Nildram have a 50gb cap between peak hours(8am-11pm).
I think I use about 40GB a month, and most of the big downloads are when I'm asleep, so I should be fine.
I spent years with Nilly and have got to say their support is top notch. They even call you on occasion just to see if everything is going ok
Be* has been a different kind of beast altogether. I'm on one of the plauged eastend exchanges and have had many problems since I migrated in March.
But...... For the 20 quid PM that I'm paying for the 8Meg I get it's worth the hassles I've been through.
Email is an extra £2pm and there are no newservers (nilly give you both). There is an often talked about soft-limit of 300Gig PM but I've never heard of anyone reaching it or getting kicked for going over as yet.
If Be* do ever go to the wall I know that Nildram will always be there waiting for me
I think Nildram may well be my next ISP - what is their affiliation with Pipex? If there is a very strong influence then I won't be joining Nildram!!!!
Had another word with Pipex last night and nothing came of it that restored any confidence in me that they actually looked after their customers.
All they are interested in is tying you into long contracts and not offering any new products to their existing customers.
What do you guys think I should do?
They take money from my acct on the 5th of every month. I have to give 30 days cancellation notice for them to stop taking money from my account.
I have asked for a MAC (migration code), and apparently the MAC's last for 30 days, after which your account is cancelled and MAC is not valid.
Therefore, if I got my MAC for example on Thursday (22nd) and switched over to Nildram on the Friday (23rd), I'd still be paying for the whole of July with Pipex - in effect paying for 2 subscriptions.
30 days would take me to the 21st of July - So really I want my service to start on the last possible day of migration to make the most of my Pipex account whilst it is still active.
I think it's a bloody joke you should pay another month to a service which is over-charged and to a company that doesn't care.
I would add now that unless you have a good reason, you should steer clear of Be*. They have just been taken over by Telephonica. As we know with so many other ISPs (F2S/Metronet/...) being taken over is almost always bad news. Lots of things can go up the spout and completely destroy the companies goal.
Looks like I'll be heading back to Nilly sooner than I thought then. Time to hit the Be* forums and see whats what I think.....
Even though telefonica have bought Be* they might not rebrand it just yet and a little digging about them shows their spanish connections to be "unmetered" and it looks like they have great customer services as well.

Telefonica UK used to have its own backbone network in the UK, buty Telefonica sold the UK business to Netservices. Presumably Telefonica are trying to get back into the UK, but as a retail service provider...
The fact that Be have been taken over doesn't necessarily mean that the products/suppoprt will change - you need to judge each one on its merits as they stand now.

Thinking of joining Be now.
Spent 6 good trouble free years with NTL but as I have now moved to Manchester I think I have the only stret in the country that NTL do not cover so I have togo with a service over the telephone line. Would be fine if the guy that I'm staying with didn't insist on having an AOL connection so £125 later and a second BT line is coming on 18th of december an Be seems to be the perfect choice.
Just spoken to one of their advisors (the spanish accent seemed strange at first but the telefonica link now makes it crystal clear) and he answered all my questions perfectly well. Just looking at other peoples experiences of Be now as I don't want to join a sinking ship. Sorry for the thread hijack but most peoples accounts seem to be positive of Be.
"I've heard there is a common problem with this item from forums" - If you read some forums they believe Elvis was abducted by aliens, doesn't mean it's true.
Have you looked into namesco ?
Great CS, great service and a healthy on peak cap
No problems with my connection

been with Be 6 months now, nothing but top service, very good notice about some planned outage (3 hours on friday night, wasn't even home).
£20 a month, i get 16mbit at my distance from the exchange, have yet to exceed my useage quota.
from my "favourate" server in the US, i get about 1.25megabytes a second.
Cheapish, reliable, perfmance. I'm happy, until pipex buys them of course.
