I do keep reading good things about BE, and as they are doing my telco ATM I will be looking at them.

As for the others asking how do the Isp's make the money its because of contention, that price might seem high for one to one but most have 50 to 1 and tiscali have more like 250 to 1 (been shown this by some of my many friends that work for BT).

I have always thought it funny that users who can make the most of their bandwidth are called heavy users or leaches, just shows how easy some sheep are brainwashed by their Isp's. I can do 4~6 GB (both ways together) a day just keeping all of my computers and data in sync, I dont use any peer to peer. I have never used or installed a torrent program but some find it easy to call me names, just because they can do nothing more that look at pr0n and send the odd e-mail I am the one who has the problem. I do understand that I have been on-line for so long I have grown to do most things via it and I have many family and friends all over the world but I see it as a good thing because I dont waste resources sending pictures and video when I can do the same via e-mail.

As far as I see it the same thing would be if I was to fill the car up with petrol and to be told that I could not use it as they want to re-sell what I dont use back to another, or the BBC say you cant watch TV for more that a few hours a day. BT are taking everybody for a ride and all of the sheep bend over and take it, every other country has much lower charges for their Internet I see the users that cant use their interweeb connection for more than 1GB a month should not be allowed ADSL/BB and have to stay with dial up as I used to do more 10~15 years ago.

@jay_oasis... that is a good price for SDSL my dads company pay much more for theirs and the leased lines who do you get them with ???

I'm being upgraded to Pipex max 8mb unlimited from their 1mb unlimited service. Been with Pipex for many years and never had a problem. Not the cheapest though.

I've been on Tiscali 8mbps for 7 months now with no complaints. I got 1 FUP email from them when I downloaded a Vista beta in the evening (over 3G at 400kBps), which was fair enough. I schedule all my downloads to happen after midnight and have had no problems with speed at all.

I would have been very happy if I could have got 100+ pings with tiscali, 99% of the time I had 600~900 with 95% packet loss.
I also got into a lot of trouble when I posted the proof of such in the forums, and I got banned when I posted a link to a site that showed that they brought less than half of the bandwidth from BT that Zen did, Zen had a tenth of the users at that time.

Tiscali's backbone is based in the Netherlands, so it's probably not a good choice if you're looking for low pings to another machine in the UK, though I get pings of around 20-30ms to most UK sites.
