My little son will be one in less than a month.. It's remarkable how quickly the time passes. Now if only we could get him to sleep through...

    Hello all, first post.

Dad of four here, identical triplet girls aged 7 and a little boy whose 9 months old. I can relate to PorcupineTime with how quickly time goes by as itt feels like it was only yesterday that I became a father to my girls. the last 9 months have flown over since my little boys birth!!

My daughter slept 8 hours straight at 6 weeks old. My son only stopped waking up at night at age 4.

My first reaction was "I hate you". Then I read the second sentence and calmed down a bit. Last night he slept better, so, for this morning at least, I'm no longer a murderous zombie approximation of myself.

I can relate - My triplets were absolute angels when they were babies, sleeping through at around 5 months old yet with the little boy, he is a little monster! The last few nights, he's been sleeping in 45 minute stretches, So we haven't been getting much sleep! On the other nights, he sleeps no more than 4 -5 hours at a time, which is a little better as I can just about function on 4 hours sleep.

both the wife and myself thought it would be so easy having jsut a single baby, and that we would easily breeze through the first twelve months, but the little one is easily as difficult to handle as the 3 girls were when they were his age!

I have no idea how anyone can cope with triplets. I have incredible respect for you.

Every time I see someone pushing a buggy with twins or triplets in it I try to give the parent a little more grace, a little more respect and even a little nod/smile. I mean well but I probably just come across as a smiley creep.

First didn't sleep for 6 wks then was fine
Second sleep until 6 months then was a nightmare till about 2yrs
    Third always slept

They are all very different. One is much harder work than the other two, even after 10yrs. Just different personalities.

    bl00dy hell, what a nightmare!
I've got an 11 y/o son who started being a teenager a year ago lol...
When he was a baby he was great, but as he got older and mobile, we would frequently find him in our bed... even up until about a year ago!
He's in the big school now and rarely navigates his way to our bed, but now it is difficult to get him out of his own
It never gets easier, just different
