where to take a sick little girl ?

a friend of mine who lives London way has updated me on his niece, she is about 11 years old and they have been told to give her a good holiday while she is able to enjoy it. she has about 12 months to live as she has terminal cancer.

he saw her on a good day yesterday, his definition of that was the fact she was out of bed for 2 hours laying on the settee

the question now remains where can they take her for a holiday she will love and stay in the UK.

otherwise i would have suggested Disney land in the US

Not a holiday destination really, but most kids I know of that age seem to love Legoland near Windsor. Downside is that it's very expensive to get in, but I bet there are voucher codes lurking over the interwebs.

+1 for Legoland, i took my little Lad and he loved it ...

Also Alton Towers is a good break, stay at the hotel, you can also get on the rides before it opens to the public, if rides isnt really an option there is plenty of other stuff to do also

So sorry about the little girl, i cant even imagine what they are all going through at this moment.

If you wanted a full-on holiday, Windsor is a good bet. A few decent cheap hotels, some good parks to visit for picnics and the like, the big wheel, the river, the castle, and obviously Lego-Land.

I'm sure whatever she does she'll enjoy it though - at that age a bit of shopping, a picnic and an ice-cream would seem pretty awesome

Re: where to take a sick little girl ?

While Legoland is fun, if a good day is 2 hours out of bed on a sofa, I'm not sure it's the right sort of fun.

    How does she get about?

Maybe jump in a car/van, head down to the coast and just enjoy the fresh air.

Camber Sands is beautiful and popular with Londonites

These sites might be of use

    http://www.thhn.co.uk/

    http://www.tsctrust.org/

and this is a signposting site with more useful links.

    http://www.uhl-tr.nhs.uk/patients/pa...hildren-j-to-z

Really sad to hear about this, so I hope that one of the links might provide something both for the little girl while she is alive, and the source of treasured memories for her parents later on.

Those links look useful, perhaps ideas for days out as well might be useful?

How about drive through safari - be able to stay in the car - found Woburn Safari Park for down south? Looks like they do ranger for a day type of events, ring them up and expain I'm sure they'll put something together. Kids love animals, and this would get her up close and personal.

Don't know about distance/logistics but for London: BBC Tours - BBC Television Center / CBBC - I'm only thinking/guessing she may watch a bit of telly given circumstances, perhaps see behind the scenes be really interesting for her, meet the people she watches, see Blue Peter garden?

It says the tours last for 1.5 to 2 hours, bet they could tailor it to her needs.
