placed my order in, £226 plus 4% off for using quidco is a bit of a bargain tbh.

they certainly warm up your case though.. would deffinatly have second thoughts about putting one inside an akasa zen and such like.

...or reduce my overclocks...oh no no no
Uh oh I will be getting my kit tomorrow and I`ll be bunging it all in an akasa zen...and a p5n-e which also gets hot!!!

    yeah LOW are evesham...

Dont worry too much braindancer but please let us know what the temps are like as I'm really interested.

I've added a fan on top of my chipset fan blowing straight onto the gfx card and its not too bad now..cpu has settled back to high 30's idle and mid 40's in games.

It only went up a few degrees but i prefer it as cool as i can get it.

just remembered, i selected the free "slow" delivery method, if it does arrive tomorrow as the text says, i'd be well impressed for an item that it is out of stock!

what temps are normal for 8800gts cards?

I guess the price increase is a good reason not to order

i wouldnt trust that stock counter so much, i got the text from the delivery company even though it said more stock due. though if you made the order at the lower price and it went through, then i cant see how they can charge you the higher price..

its not as quiet as i thought it would be, probably not worth me trying to replace my case fans with quieter ones now!!

for some reason the PCIe power plug from my FSP blue storm 500w doesnt seem to be able to power the card, i had to use the adapter to get it powered up --might need to bring that up in the FSP forum..

edit: i take it back, the fan only seems noisy when it starts, it quietens down some also does it matter which of the 2 dvi ports i use? on my old 6600GT, it used to be the dvi port in the middle, on the 8800 it seems to be the bottom most one..

Well I have built my PC now, I have one of thes 8800gts, I`m still installing games, proggies, etc, he akasa zen is much quieter than my old box, and seems cool enough.

CPU max temp I saw was 38C on stock, no overclocking,Mobo 44C (p5N-e)

What program to monitor GFX temps?

It was £226...so I feel even better for buying one

According to asus probe my idle is about 32C...

    Some room for some overclocking

In fairness the zen is not a bad case...a good test would be to see how to stands up in the summer with overclocking
