Its more likely the junk PSU. Trying to overclock with that PSU is a bit pointless mate. It probably cant cope with the stress of the overclocked cpu AND graphics card running at the same time.

Also, set your overclock back to what it was, boot to windows, open cpuz, check the pci-e link width. If it says 1x, go back to the bios, and up the pci-e frequency from auto to 110, boot to windows, and check again with cpuz, it chould have changed back to 16x. You can either check for stability using the 110 setting, or restart and chage it back to auto.

clunk mate, your a star!!! The PCI-Express was the issue and now the score has increased to 8967 (Is that good for my system spec??):-

    Btw, this is my o/c e6300 @ 2.8Ghz.

I've noticed in the list that the Gfz cards of some ppl are running at faster Mhz than mine...
...Can i o/c the gfx card too?

Yes, you can, but you risk frying the lot with that PSU.

Glad you fixed the other stuff

Yes, and it says Tetley tea bags on the side of buses, but it doesnt mean there's any in it

My point is, a cheap PSU can be fine for a long time, but then when they do die, they tend to take other stuff with them, like your ram, your cpu, your graphics card etc.

Its THE most overlooked part on a PC, but it is arguably THE most important as well.

DONT SCRIMP ON THE PSU! It will come back and bite you on the arse eventually

ROFL!!! I hope not as that will be a severe pain-in-the-ass!

Btw, why did you say set the pci-e frequency to 110? Iset it to 100 and it still gives me 16x

Lastly can i use a nvidia program to tweak the frequency of the gfx card?

110 is just a figure that I used when mine did it, and it worked. I suppose any change of frequency should unstick it.

I use rivatuner to do mine, works ok.

am i right to say that the higher the number, the more hotter the gfx card becomes?

What is the default setting for my gfx card and in your opinion what is a safe limit a person can goto?

    There isnt a safe limit.

You just up it a bit, then test and check for artifacts. If it locks up or you get artifacts, back off a bit.

As always, keep an eye on the temps.

You can set rivatuner to log temps while you do 3dmark run or whatever.

    thanks again mate

thanks for that clunk mate, but you've misunderstood me....being a daft novice that i am, i need your help:-

    1. I've seen many options in Riva tuner, which allow you to monitor the temperature, such as ambient, cpu, core etc...which is the temperature option that i need to keep an eye on incase my gfx card is o/c too much and where can i find it?

    2. A Core 2 Duo CPU has a safe idle and load temperature level...What is the average safe and load temperature level for my gfx card?

    3. If I o/c too much, what will happen? Will the pc not boot? If not, then how do i reset the gfx settings so that i can get back in?

thanks and sorry for the confusion
