@ acrobat - nah mate, thats just normal...it'd be a miracle to get that temp whilst o/c.

Okay mate...you remember the test results we got yesterday, when we did a load test in ORTHOS? It was 67-68C!!! This was with the pc case open too!!

This is the ORTHOS (upto test 6) LOAD result with the pc case closed:-

Note, that the room is cool, i.e approx 20C (don't have a thermometer to check exact room temp), but still at 54C MAX! (50C average) i think i've done good.

Thats good Like I said, some of the better overclockers (padantic? ) ive seen on the net, say that they would never let their temperatures go about 59C. So even when you overclock that, you should still be able to keep it within that kind of range. To think it used to be almost 70C, thats a job well done.

I think you should get overclocking right away...see if you can set it on fire

But really though, run orthos overnight at stock.

Lets say i found a certain speed which i'm happy with and the max load temp i can see is in the range of 63-66C. Is this a safe temp range to leave the pc on for overnight?

What i'm trying to say is what if the cpu got really hot with orthos overnight? Is there a risk of damage or is it safe to walk away?

Leave it at stock and run orthos first, that way youll know if its stable.

how long had it been going before it got to 66c?

I haven't tested it yet mate...just was asking the question before i go ahead. Will leave it on stock speed overnight and let you know how i get on.

seems to be okay at stock speeds and temps ranged between 51C to 55C MAX!!

Here are the results of the quick orthos tests (upto test 6) i did just to see what max temp the CPU would reach:-

    @ 2100Mhz, I got 57C Max!!!:

    @ 2240Mhz, I got 60C Max!!!:

    @ 2378Mhz, I got 62C Max!!!:

    @ 2520Mhz, I got 63C Max!!!:

    @ 2588Mhz, I got 66C Max!!!:

.....Now I don't know what peeps would class as a safe threshold to test on and so I would be most grateful for their advice.

Are you sure your board isn't bucked or something?.. That's still awfully high
You really don't want to be over 65C though.
