    A cardboard box, or something non-conductive.

    Sit the motherboard flat on it, and build it all up on the bit of cardboard instead of fixing it into the case.

    You can still use the wires from the PSU.

    Just make sure that nothing is touching the motherboard that shouldnt be, and fire it up.

    If it fires up ok, you know that the fault lies with the case.

    ye i noticed that, but then put the card in properly, but it still occured

    rite,
    mounted the mobo on keyboard, with only essential things mounted. - everything fine

    put it back in case.. the beep came..

    started taking out some things, and i found that when i took out my Pinnacle PCTV DVB-T PCI Card from the pci slot, the beep went away....
    so im gna RMA the pci card

    The first suspect would be the I/O shield...get some pliers and nip off all the little strands of stray metal.

    Edit: so its the pinnacle card?

    it's not your pci-e power lead is it plugged in properly to your gfx card
