    P5K Deluxe Wifi-Ap Bios Questions

Just got this new motherboard and was wondering about a few Bios options that I cant seem to find much explanations about on the net. I have a C2D E6850 and I'm not overclocking at all. Firstly its about the CPU options:

1: C1E Support- which I have enabled but no clue what difference it makes
2: Max CPUID Value Limit- I have disabled
3: Vanderpool Technology- which iirc is about something to do with 2 OS's or dual booting so I have this Disabled I shud have this enabled for some reason?
4: CPU TM Fuction- which I have enabled but dont know what it does
5: Execute Disable Bit- which has something to do with virus attacks thru a buffer overflow, I have this disabled as Ive had problems with it before on my P5B Deluxe when enabled
6: PECI- which I have enabled but no idea what it does
7: Intel Speedstep- which just makes the CPU run slower when not used so I have this enabled

So does somebody know what the ones I dont have a clue about do? I want my CPU to run as cool as possible cos sometimes its just downloading etc and not doing much, so if any of these options would help with undervolting the CPU etc that wud be great

Another option Im stuck on is with the Hardrive Bios setup, I have a Raptor as my system drive but in the options under Sata is says ' Configure Sata as either IDE, RAID or AHCI', and I have mine as IDE. Is that right or should I have it set to AHCI?

Any help wud be great thanks

Have a search for p5k deluxe wifi ap - and there is a long thread of mine with all of that info listed

Edit: as you arent overclocking, just leave it all at default.

Really, cos as default it has the Intel Speedstep disabled which I wanted so that it reduces the speed when not in use, but the others I have no clue if they help.

Clunk, any idea about the IDE part, what do u have yours set as? IDE, RAID or AHCI?

Just leave it as IDE. You can use AHCI, but you may need to reinstall windows to use it. There may be a way of doing it without, and I remember seeing it posted a few weeks ago, but I havent tried it.

I thought speedstep was enabled by default? If not, and you want it, turn it on

Re: P5K Deluxe Wifi-Ap Bios Questions

But is AHCI any better ie quicker? IDE just doesnt sound appealing when its a SATA, they shud just have a plain SATA option. When I enabled AHCI on my P5B and I reloaded Windows it asked for a Disk as if it were a Raid setup which I thought was weird

Re: P5K Deluxe Wifi-Ap Bios Questions

In general am I loosing speed or anything with my Raptor set to IDE in BIOS? Or shud I have it set to AHCI?

Another Bios question which Ive never known what the right option is. I get the option 'PLUG AND PLAY OS' which as default is set to No, and I usually change it to Yes. Will it make a difference to much? This might seem feeble but I hate not knowing what something does

Do these Hdtach scores seem alright for a WD Raptor 150?

I'm not certain but, i think sata 2 charecteristics & others, such as ncq etc., are only supported in raid/ahci & so by selecting ide you forgo these features.

I personally find Raid is preferable, it handles single drives just fine.
