Hopefully these flop like hell because imo ati/amd deserve to be ontop as if it wasnt for them we would have £400 8800GT and 9600GT's from nvidia, and besides they need to turn that 600million loss into 600million profit soon .
Lies. Maybe if ATI wants to really compete (and get my money), they oughta start making real cards again, not this mid-range B.S. Thats why I got an 8800GT over the HD3870; marginally higher costs for a fairly significant performance increase.

This new GTX is looking sharp, IMO; I may have to get one myself in a few months...

    Nvidia wish!

9600GT is right at the performance end of mainstream, if at all. 8800GT + are very much enthusiast only.

If it's between your money and 10x as many other people's money I know which I'd go for.

Sure, I agree that Nvidia aren't doing the best for the consumer but it's about their bottom line at the end of the day.
What they can do about it is not upgrade their GFX card as often. It won't hurt very much for many because the increased performance isn't enough to worry about unless you have a supersized display.

but if it wasnt for amd's 3870/50 cards then you wouldnt of been able to get 8800GT's for such low prices, i remember when they were £200+ some even £300, although some will blame the stock id say that was just an excuse but then as soon as amds cards came out they eventually came down to the £100 they are today. Wait till the 4870 cards are out and then we can see how good/bad amd are doing, atleast they havent lied about having their cards 2x better when they are not.

Ahem. We would do well to remember that ATI have forced NVIDIA's hand - the 3800 series forced NVIDIA to bring cards to the market and the 4800 series will force them to drop those pie-in-the-sky prices on the GTX range. Midrange is where the money be at, bro. That's why NVIDIA got all panic stricken - even though they owned the high end of the market.
I'm still open to a 4870X2 being a serious contender for my cash - the 280 just ain't rocking my world (price/performance).

Nvidia may have bigger and better technology up their sleeves but until AMD step up to the plate and challenge them then why bother? It makes perfect business sense to milk the 8 series for all it's worth since it has been so successful.

I know it makes good business sense but that is what I don't like... business sense means giving the customers the worst possible deal to make the most money out of them, by some people's standards that is exploiting us as customers which is why I dislike them among other reasons.

Its not benefiting anyone besides them which is selfish and greedy both traits I dislike in business and in any other type of situation tbh. What can I say I expect good moral values from businesses as well so as a customer I know I am held in high regard instead of being treated like dirt.

I wouldn't say I'd use AMD out of spite but I would prefer to purchase electronic equipment from a company that isn't as devious as nvidia are, so I would purchase AMD because of principles. This isn't the only thing nvidia have done to alert me to how they treat customers and there competition, if they aren't able to respect there opposition or customers why should any of us respect or purchase there equipment. That's my moral standing on nVidia.

EDIT: This is what I mean by doing something that does not benefit the consumer and is a sign of complete disrespect for there competition or anyone besides themselves tbh.> http://www.anandtech.com/showdoc.aspx?i=3320&p=6

That's not good business sense in most cases. Not in the long term.

Well from my perspective its bad no matter what benefits it may have, just thought I'd show I can understand where they are coming from thinking its good business practise with that sentance. As it stands nVidia have lost me as a customer until such a time that I can see a visible change in the way they operate so basically that means for the next couple of years minimum.

nVidia have stuffed up big time and if AMD can land a punch now they will take a decisive blow for sure because that would mean that not only are AMD taking market from there GFX cards but Intel are battling them everywhere else and winning with ease I might add.

Re: Retailer spills the beans on GTX280

Um I think your going to need to move into a substation for that... be cheaper doing it that way.

I think I'm going to have a look at wind turbines for power generation and maybe some solar panels so my parent's don't throw my PC down the hill.

Re: Retailer spills the beans on GTX280

Lol, not even Satan with all the souls sold to him could afford that thing

With the HD4850 in Crossfire apparantly the same as the GTX 280 the situation isn't looking good for nVidia unless they plummet those prices.
