Nvidia GTX280 - Retailer spills the beans

A German retailer (HW elektronik's) has listed Nvidia's GTX280, and the price currently stands at €599.

The G200 core runs at 602MHz, the card packs 1GB of GDDR3 memory clocked at 1105MHz (2210MHz effective) and the Shaders are clocked at 1296MHz. Maximum power consumption is rated at 147W and the card has 240 stream processors, as reported earlier.

Here's the link and if (or should we say when) Nvidia takes it down, i will post a screenshot. The vendor is unknown, and we can only guess that these are reference clocks and the official MSRP, so take this leak with a grain of salt.

The retailer expects to have the card in stock by June 16th.

Update:Nvidia seems to have twisted HW elektronik's arm, the link is down

147w is not bad at all 10w or so less than the 9800gtx.

so we have the prices, the drivers, just need benchies now

"Erm ... how much" he asks again in a manly baritone, while brushing the dirt off his chin, having picked it up off the floor.

I think I'd want the whole damn PC for that.

It's not suprising though. This is said to be the next significant step in single GPU solutions and nvidia charged this sort of money for 8800GTX /ULTRA's not that long ago.

Re: Retailer spills the beans on GTX280

Typical price for brand new tech.

If its too much for you, just wait 6 months. You'll get the same performance for under 200quid then.

I for one will be buying one asap IF its as good as initial reports say and someone sells them with a waterblock.

Would be nice to finally play Crysis after having it installed for soooo long...... 1920x1200 minimum resolution is a killer

Just read the Geforce GTX 280 will need a lot of power. Its maximal board power is set to ultra high 236W. While the GTX 260 is a bit better, as its maximal board power is 182 Watts. We will wait and see and find out next week.

am the only one that doesnt expect it to be the "most siginificant jump in technology"? because this it was they said with the "9800 series" and if i remember rightly that was a complete lie, they said the 9800 will be double the performance of the 8800 series but the gx2 only performs 1.5x better so that failed there .
Hopefully these flop like hell because imo ati/amd deserve to be ontop as if it wasnt for them we would have £400 8800GT and 9600GT's from nvidia, and besides they need to turn that 600million loss into 600million profit soon .

    475.391 GBP...

Absolutely overkill. Not many people would spend that much on a component to have it outdated in a few months by another top end rebrand or OC.. surely?

I wouldn't spend that kind of money only to have it as an antique for the mantle place after 2 years, nevermind a few months.
