Well I've finally recovered most of it.

Unfortunately most of the bastard partition-recovering/rewriting programs need paying for, and I couldn't find any, erm, *COUGH* ANYWHERE, so I found one that managed to recover all the files I had on my huge 160GB drive, thankfully I had only used about 52GB of it, so I left it going last night "recovering" the files from the big drive to my main windows drive. Once that was done, I formatted the big drive and gave it a partition/drive letter, etc, and now I'm copying all the files back onto it!!

Bugger me last evening was scary

How the hell do I stop this from happening again? What's to say it won't happen in x months time when I next reformat??

I think its because when you installed windows xp it can only recognise up to 120gb, you need xp sp1 for it to recognise anything more.

I always disconnect all my other drives before doing any re-installs! Just incase windows tries to bugger them up!
