    PC reboots for unknown reason?

Following on from my first Jetway mini-ITX board which proved to be a pile of in terms of reliability, I now have a replacement one. However, it appears to randomly reboot. But I can't figure out why and what's causing it. There are no entries in the logs. As the server's in the attic, and it only happens every other day randomly, I don't know where to start. I did change the settings so that it wouldn't reboot on a BSOD and it still appears to show a login screen so I guess it's not a BSOD.

I have no really applications running on it apart from antivirus, ocassional torrent client and a FTP server, but have never experienced any reliability with these applications, so I'm still tempted to believe it's a hardware thing.

I'll do some memtests and a few other things, but in the meantime, is there any way of tracking what's happening and trying to figure out why it reboots?

I never thought my mini-ITX experience would be so painful. I might well resort to a more standard low-power setup at this rate

OOoooh. Yes. Something I should read? I did have a quick look at the readme file and didn't see anything, but will dig deeper. Thanks

erm i'm not sure buuuut, a mate of mine has just started having reboot problems (following BSOD countdowns) and he finds that it only happens when he has utorrent running (doesn't happen instantly, takes an hour or so of running)... if he doesn't run it then it's fine.. and it's started happening since he updated (i haven't had a chance to get a look at it yet though, but i should be at the weekend)

(i havn't had the problems, but i cancelled the last update) but i would try un-installing utorrent (it's not hard to install afterall...) and see if that is causing your problem.

    it's always worth a try.

also check your drivers (i.e. try re-installing drivers)

Run utorrent in admin mode, turn off caching and don't fiddle with any advanced settings that you don't understand...
I used to have problems with utorrent in Vista x64 and the above fixed it for me

Re: PC reboots for unknown reason?

Well, I turned off the auto-reboot and found that I do get a kind of BSOD revolving around "processr.sys" or something like that.

Reading up on the net, it appears that this is a known issue with ACPI on this particular motherboard, and the only way around it is apparently to disable it in the BIOS, but then you lose all power saving features. Apparently the problem was a lot worse with previous BIOS versions and has been improved but clearly it's still not fixed. I do have the latest BIOS on mine.

I think I might as well see if I can return this as it's clearly never going to be stable.

So on the lookout again for another mobo which is low on power.....
