Gaming Keyboard?

Well my 8 year old disease infested microsoft keyboard has finally started to die I am now needing to get a new keyboard. Was going to get a logitech g11 but was not sure if the extra pennies for the g15 is worth it. Any other recommendations? I need to order quickly for scan order for tomorrow.

But to get back to your question, i would say go with the G11 as the G15 imo is just a gimmick keyboard and doesn't really offer anything more then the G11 does when it comes to functionality,

I'm a proud G15 Rev 1 owner, and I love it. I don't use the macro buttons (or whatever they are called) but love the LCD! I have all my system information on it, temps, ram usage etc. Great for me as I am overclocking.

Love my Saitek Eclipse II.

It's not got anything specifically geared towards gaming, but the keyboard feel is great, the choice of colours for key illumination works great, it seems totally solid and doesn't take up much room on the desk.

I am using the MS Reclusa keyboard with the MS Habu Mouse (Basically they are Razer gear but with MS badges on em)

Thanks for the reply's guys. I have gone for G11. I was hovering over the razor and the G15 but thought do I need to spend another £15? for a keyboard so decided no. I have spent a bit in the last month as it is so it has to stop somewhere.... God i am talking crap again look at my system another £15 would be nothing but gets a few brownie points form mrs for saving money!!!

I too need a new keyboard, I like the Saitek, I like the G11/G15 but they all have one major downside.

I had a Saitek. In fact I still have it tucked away in a cupboard somewhere. Cheap and nasty construction. The keytops wore off after about 9 months and it uses 3 HID device slots so I couldn't keep both my joystick and steering wheel connected because the keyboard pushed them down the list to the point where most games couldn't see them. I only used it that long because I couldn't afford to replace it.

I have a MS Reclusa now. Very nicely made with a very comfortable key action. Loads of macro buttons too although you can't do very complicated actions with it. I think it's limited to 8 steps including pauses.

Using the same myself after destroying my razer diamondback and logitech g15 with a cup of tea last week .......PC World bailed me out (both with excellent reserve and collect prices)

The G15 I found irritating TBH (although not enough to destroy it on purpose ) I use the keyboard by feeling and swapping between a "normal" keyboard at work and a G15 at home caused me issues as the function keys down the left kept throwing me off (was always hitting the key to the left of the key I actually wanted)

The reclusa just feels better and more normal and I do not miss the LCD in the slightest even though every game I play used it.

The Diamondback was fine but the Habu is better

The only feature I've ever found to be useful for gaming is n-key rollover (or at least 7-key rollover on USB keyboards) and many gaming keyboards don't have it (The Saitek Eclipse, Microsoft Reclusa and Logitech G11/G15 don't) so I guess most people can live without it (as it generally pushes the price of the keyboard up)

Apart from that and if you don't do much typing I would just pick up whatever you like the look of whether it's marketed for gaming or not.

Check the reserve and collect prices. You can get things considerably cheaper.

Habu: Normal price £60, R&C price: £35

Reclusa: Normal price £60, R&C price: £40

I've seen reclusas floating around fleabay for £25. At that sort of price it wont have much competition.
