    What Mobo?

I've already got a Q6600 sorted, Enermax Liberty 620W PSU, Creative Lab sound card and my hard drives sorted (Hitachi 500GB, 750GB and 1TB) from my old machine.

I've got a Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro but thinking of getting the Scythe Ninja II.

Was trying to work out what sub £150 mobo would be best for casual overclocking, has a least 6 SATA/eSATA, SLI, dual GB lan, etc?

OR is my old Abit AW9D Max still up to scratch (I just don't want a few year old mobo bottle next my new machine).

    Thanks for any advise.

    Re: What Mobo?

DFI DK P45-T2RS-PLUS £100 on Scan will do everything you need and more.

Oh and I would consider spending just a touch more on the graphics card the are some deals on GTX280s around placing them at less than £250 as well as the 4850X2 (though the fan is a bit noisy on the X2 apparently).

Or you could get the Gigabyte GA-X38-DQ6 for £100 and get 2x 4830s (£180 eBuyer) or 4850s (£240) and crossfire them yourself.

    Re: What Mobo?

It will be my main PC so general browsing the internet, watching DVDs/avi's/Blu-Ray and gaming (Fallout 3, Mass Effect, WoW, CoD and whatever new games come out).

Will making the order about 22nd+ (fingers crossed I will be able to find a 280 at the £230-250 mark then).

The AW9D Max was released on October 2006 (still nice but is showing it's age a little). Looking at reviews the DFI DK P45-T2RS-PLUS does fit my requirement apart from eSATA but I think I can live with that.

    Re: What Mobo?

I recently used a Maximus II Formula with a Q6600 and got to say that it OCed perfectly. The BIOS is very easy to use and the board looks great too. It's quite a lot more expensive than the DFI, but its performance is well worth it.

    Re: What Mobo?

Just a quick check before I order next week. Will the Enermax Liberty 620W PSU be good enough? I know it will no where be close enough for SLI but I'm not intending to do that or if I do in the distant future I will by 800W+ one.

yes it will be enough and you will also get away with using it with sli too, as long as it has the cables, and yes it does have the juice to power sli too

Good to know. It does have two dual PCI-e cables.

    Re: What Mobo?

Bought it about November 2006 and spent quite a lot on it.
    It's got ATX 20/24
    2x 12V rails
    10x SATA
    10x Molex
    2x PCI-e

and Modular, all good solid stable rails, good Amps per rail and comes in sexy black.

    Absolutely.
I was running an overclocked Q6600 on the 500W Liberty until recently and there was never a murmur. Great PSU tbh.

Also, that AW9D-MAX is a brilliant board.
975X chipset never did overclock that well, but the board in question has fantastic features and is rock solid.

I agree about the AW9D-MAX. Going to retire it to media server duties. My only grip was it didn't like 4x ram.
