Changeing the memory is generally the same as on any laptop, unscrew and remove the plate from the bottom.
push the memory locking tabs outward to release the stick, line up the new stick and push it into place.
put the plate back on the bottom.
Location of the plate and memory will differ between models as well as makes.
Just like a laptop every make and every model will have a slightly different layout.

Have you seen the videos on how to change ram on a Dell Mini 10v? Everything has to be taken apart!!

Would this be a good alternative to a netbook? I ask as the screen is quite a bit bigger and it has a DVD drive etc. What do you think? It can be bought for around £249 new. Is it as powerful as the Netbooks above or not? Obviously i would up the ram.
One problem it's twice the weight of a netbook about about twice the volume, hence it's not comparable. It's just a basic laptop, and will be slightly more powerful than a non-Ion standard spec netbook.
Yea, but also have a bigger screen?
I think what he's trying to say to you is it's the complete opposite of a netbook. The whole point of a netbook is that they're very portable with their small size, low weight and good battery life. The trade off is they have a small, low res screen and aren't very powerful. That laptop you posted is the opposite. It's more powerful and has a bigger, higher res screen but it's bigger, heavier and battery life won't be as good.
If your wife wants something she can pop in her handbag, get a netbook. If she just wants to use it in the house or doesn't have a problem with lugging a laptop bag around then the laptop is probably a better buy.
But 14" Laptop is still small which would also be a good alternative.
The big difference between a 14 laptop and a netbook is weight. laptop is around 2.5Kg, netbook 1.2kg. I have been using a netbook for a year now, wife has a laptop, shes very keen to change to a netbook, I wouldnt go back to a laptop for home use.
Well, the wife thinks a slightly bigger screen would be better for her.
If it's not too late, try an Acer Aspire 751. Atom Z series is low power draw, and the linky is for one with a 6-cell battery to give around 7hours battery life (I assume that's when you're just looking at the desktop, but it should be pretty good overall). Screen's an 11.6" WXGA, so bigger and higher res than the average netbook, and that allows a full size notebook keyboard, but the whole thing still weighs less than 3lb (1.35kg). At £315 it looks a steal to me - if I had the money I would be buying one, not just telling you to!
If the notebook is too heavy get a bigger stronger wife!

I've been looking at the Samsung NC10 and the Asus EEE's Still can't decide what's best for me. Probably end up staying with my ancient laptop.
