VGA switch box/monitor frequency help needed

Ok so I've bought this switch box. When I connect it up with my PC and 360 everything works fine. However when I start my PC with it connected then the monitor says "Out of frequency range 75Hz/60Hz". Is there any way that I can stop it from doing this? My monitor is an LG L194WS if that makes a difference.

I take it your monitor works with the pc but comes up with error when using the switch box?
have you tried changing the refresh rate on the pc? its under display properties and monitor settings.
Its unual for you to get this error though if the monitor works with the pc ok. Most pc's seem to be set on 60 which works with most displays. I've mainly used higher in the past on old CRT monitors.

Well if I connect up the vga box to the pc once the pc is already on, it works fine. I only get this problem if I start the pc with the vga box connected. So I can start the pc with it connected straight to the monitor, and then connect it up to the vga box. But this sort of defeats the object of having the vga box in the first place.

to me it seems like either the vga box is duff or faulty.
    or
have you checked the refresh rate as if its to high it might be jamming the vga box up causing the problem your getting?

Re: VGA switch box/monitor frequency help needed

Ok now it's a new problem. I changed the monitor's refresh rate to 75Hz and now it will start up with the VGA box (even though I've now lowered it back to 60Hz). But when I start it with the VGA box it has a different set of resolutions, none of which are the one I want (1440x900).
