Re: Bit-tech best hardware of 2010

I like how they say that a SU7300 only consumes 10W and offers better performance. It is funny how they have forgotten that the fact that the CULV platform needs a separate southbridge and northbridge too and the IGP is rubbish too. An Ion CULV motherboard is better but costs more and the power consumption is even higher. Most Ion CULV motherboard use the slower SU2300 CPU too.

I asked them whether they can review the MSI E350IA-E45 which is available on pre-order for around £100 and to use a lower wattage PSU or a DC-DC PSU to get more accurate power readings.

It will be interesting if they just keep to the most expensive Zacate mini-ITX motherboards though and whether they will just use a bigger PSU.

Looks like a G6950 based system has much higher power consumption:

Well, isn't that a surprise? Err...

I am surprised by the power consumption vs Atom though. I'll have to read that article in a min.

Do you think they're being paid under the table by IntelVidia? Or are they just genuinely thick (fanboys)?

Remember that Bit-tech,CPC,Micro Mart,PC-Pro,Computer Shopper and IT Pro are all part of the same company.

Remember back when Richard Hammond was hypnotised by Paul McKenna into thinking the 911 was the best/fastest car in the world? Even when it didn't get to the top of the board he was still adamant it could do the fastest lap.
    Remind you of anyone?

Even if Intel released a terrible CPU that was slower than their previous line and slower than what AMD was offering, I reckon they would still say it was better because it has more contact pads on the CPU.

You're using the famously factual Top Gear as the yardstick?

I'd have more faith in a Top Gear review than in any of those hack-rags/sites that CAT listed

Why? They both focus on POWAHHHHHHHHHH and nothing else.
Kalniel: "Nice review Tarinder - would it be possible to get a picture of the case when the components are installed (with the side off obviously)?"
CAT-THE-FIFTH: "The Antec 300 is a case which has an understated and clean appearance which many people like. Not everyone is into e-peen looking computers which look like a cross between the imagination of a hyperactive 10 year old and a Frog."
TKPeters: "Off to AVForum better Deal - £20+Vat for Free Shipping @ Scan"
for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.

Re: Bit-tech best hardware of 2010

Having recently has a 3 month trial subscription to PC Pro, "focus" is the last word I would use about their reviews. I could pretty much have just read the boxes in a components retailers and made a better informed decision

Perhaps Top Gear has got more power-focussed over the last few years, I haven't watched any for a while: but at least you get the feeling that Clarkson, Hamster and the slow one ( ) have a certain amount of passion for their subject and know that they're talking about: an impression I didn't get after reading every review in three issues of PC Pro...

Another Dennis magazine towing the line:

    http://www.pcpro.co.uk/blogs/2011/03...on-all-fronts/

The AMD graphics division losing the battle on all fronts?? Really?? Zacate not going to have an impact?? Really?? How come AMD cannot even make enough of them.

Re: Bit-tech best hardware of 2010

Couldn't resist posting on that one, I'm not on my own in the comments section though. No doubt it will be deleted, but here it is for anyone interested:
Wow, this just confirms one of two things I suspected – either the whole Dennis company is full of moronic fanboys, or they are being paid off by Intel. Epic Fail PCPro, I thought you were the only decent Dennis mag left.
You just confirmed to your readers that your articles are as professional and unbiased as a Youtube comment. Fail…

Re: Bit-tech best hardware of 2010

TBH,outside of Hexus and kitguru I am just going to ignore reviews from UK websites for CPUs and graphics cards. Too many of these so called "tech journalists" are just towing the same pre-determined line without bothering to do any research.
