May even be worth going for 6850's as i believe they perform better in Crossfire than 460's in SLI.

for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.
i dunno i lean towards nvidia because of tesselation and blah blah really i just like nvidia...the differences are so marginal and i've always been an nvidia lad
k bed time..in work at 5am..funsies
If you intend to keep the cards as long as possible the 1GB version makes the most sense. The 1GB also has more ROPs when compared to the 768MB version too.
This seems to be the cheapest GTX460 on Scan ATM:

AFAIK,Sandy Bridge does run quite cool so I would probably ditch the aftermarket cooler TBH unless you are aiming for some uber-overclock.
The same goes for the CPU, the Core i5 2500K is not 20% faster than a Core i5 2400 even though it costs around 20% more.

As CAT said it's more than just more memory, which gives better all round performance.
It's a bit more money but I'd have a look at the EVGA 1gb SC version http://www.scan.co.uk/products/1gb-e...dvi-i-minihdmi it carries EVGA's 10year warranty and is the fastest factory overclocked gtx460 I know of at 763mhz which is very good for a factory overclock.
PS the Asus p8p67 pro has the Asus auto tune and TurboV which is probably the automatic overclocking function of any of the motherboard manufactures.

With a thread title like that I thought you was going say you had 3 women on the go at once.i've got one of those problems that you normally hate people for having
Back on topic, I'd probably spend the extra £30 it's not soo much when you think what your spending out on the whole machine.
argh god damn i hate scan and their finance
got accepted, went through the hoo-ha before having to go get passport and driving license for information (30min drive)
completed it, only to find out they want you to print off paper work and send it into them before you can get the finance!
absolute joke..also, they charge a £10 admin fee but also a random extra £40 fee which i have no clue what it's for..
in the end i stuck with the 2500K and the 768s...as people said it's only £30 and with it being paid over 9 months i won't notice it anyway
and stuck with the 768s because by the time they're no good i'll probably looking to buy a DX12 card or something
So just to confirm, you've actually bought the parts then?

With the amount of posts you've got, you could have applied for Scan's free delivery for Hexus people offer, saving you more...
terb yeah i've bought em, just waiting for em to get paper work
smudger i'm collecting it
edit: also while i'm bitching about scan, how much of a con is scansure ? you can't choose what items are covered, it's just everything in your basket..why the hell would i want scansure on a case?!
You can remove Scansure AFAIK, i know i haven't ever paid for it.
Maybe its because its on finance?

yeah you can remove it altogether but not for individual items
as i've not built a system in about 2-3 years i thought i might as well get it, and the luck i've been having in getting this system it was probably for the best.
Paperwork is all sorted they say this time tomorrow i'll have an invoice number to track the order, dunno if that means they're delivering it or what but hope not, i'm in work until 2pm and it's always a nightmare getting ahold of undelivered parcels.
edit: no just means they'll give me invoice number for when it's ready to go pick up.

got all details now gonna go get it saturday morning
the 2500k is now showing out of stock, if they didn't put it aside with my order i think i might shoot up the place
haha yeah about the airport, that was funny
i'd rather leave it than pander to the pathetic patrol, but thanks for the concern
got it all up and running now weeee, had a fair few trials and tribulations, ended up getting the 2500 instead of the K
games aren't as astounding as i expected em to be..only tried black ops and BC2 though and they're console ports
gonna get Civ 5 tomoz
The new socket 1155 processors can only be overclocked through using the multiplier as the base clock has been locked down.
This means none of the new Core i3 processors can be overclocked as they have fully locked multipliers and no Turbo Boost. The non-K series Core i5 processors have a few extra multipliers due to Turbo Boost and can be overclocked a small amount. If you want to overclock normally you need to pay a premium for the K series processors which have an unlocked multiplier. This means over £170.
The new H67 motherboards have overclocking disabled whereas the P67 ones don't. OTH,the P67 motherboards cannot use the IGP. If you want to use both the IGP and overclock you need to get one of the Z68 motherboards in the next few months.
The P67 motherboards also are more expensive than the H67 motherboards even though now the motherboard is less important for overclocking Intel processors!
Basically if you want to overclock you pay much more for a socket 1155 setup and if you are on a budget then tough luck.
Many Hexus members seem to support Intel's stand on this too:
