Safe mode made no difference TBH!! For the Tron:Legacy encode I got 18.780111 fps and for the Splice encode I got 12.825178 fps!! Big Buck Bunny came to 19.164465 fps and the encoded file was 391MB.

    Q9300 @ stock (2.5GHz), 4gb ddr2 @ 667. Source file on G.Skill Falcon 64GB, destination on WD Green 1TB jobby.

Tested under Vista X64 (NTFS) and Ubuntu 10.10 (2.6.35-30-generic-pae kernel, EXT4 filesystems)

    Tron:
    (V) 18.817146 fps | 3:13 | 85.5 MB
    (U) 18.805111 fps | 3:16 | 85.5 MB

    Splice:
    (V) 13.067930 fps | 4:14 | 157.2 MB
    (U) 13.138868 fps | 4:15 | 157.2 MB

    (U) 18.778566 fps | 12:48 | 391.8 MB

Looks like the OS makes little difference.

Re: Hexus HandBrake charts - who has the greatest multi-threaded POWER!!??

    It seems that a 3.1GHZ Core i3 2100 is quite similar to a 2.5GHZ Q9300 in HandBrake.

It will be interesting to see how an Athlon II X4 or Phenom II X4 will fare!
