Re: What was your first PC?

It was a Gateway, Pentium 2 233Mhz I think- cost over £2000 then!!! I was very young then so I dont remember the exact specs.

The case was really solid to- complete metal, weighed over a ton, and was bloody massive, about 70cm in height, very solid.

My first computer was a ZX80 that my dad bought as a kit. My first "proper" computer was an Amiga 1500. My first Windows PC was Dell Dimension Pentium 75 with a whole 8mb of ram and a 500mb HD! Cost £1549 + VAT at the time with the monitor upgraded to a 15"!

My first computer like many was a zx81. My first PC was an amstrad 8086, used to play civilisation on it for hours and hours, very addictive.

Re: What was your first PC?

My first computer was a BBC micro with a green screen monitor and then an Atrai ST. My first PC was a strange 386DX in what was probably one of the first small form factor cases, it was about the size of a shoe box.

Re: What was your first PC?

First PC an Atari which has a large notice on the base that declares it has 16kb memory. It is still in my loft and I think my wife bought it for me in the very early 80's, probably before most of you guys were born. I also still have, I think, in the loft the slot-in games; square balls and flat bats.

Re: What was your first PC?

    An Acorn Electron.
Used the TV as its monitor, and a tape drive to load games- no HDD.
I can still remember writing my first programs, all of 4 lines of code!
    And my favourite game, Deathstar.

Then I upgraded to the mindblowing power of a 286, with a 20Mb HDD!

BBC Micro 32k, remember typing in code what seemed to be like 1000+ lines from magazines to make games like asteroids etc, ... always made a spelling mistake somewhere pfft..!

Had the BBC for ages as my friends all had Atari ST's and Amigas while I still had my BBC Later on got a 486DX33, the PC started to shine shortly after that, Wolfenstein 3D, Doom, Origin games

Re: What was your first PC?

Mine was an Amiga Commodore 2000 with a whopping 7mhz CPU a family hand me down, after that I got my time machine which IIRC was a 233 cyrix, But I never got too interested in PCs until the time machine did the inevitable and went to the fiery pits of hell, after searching for the cheapest way of having a new PC was to build it myself. Now im addicted and my bank hates me.

Re: What was your first PC?

My first computer was a Toshiba MSX came with a cartridge slot and a tape player ah the hours of fun playing pinball! That and programming ASCII art! Then an Amstrad with a green screen ah Postman what a cracking game, shortly followed by a 286 then a 386 a 486 and then an original Athlon! Then 7 or 8 years later here we are with a C2D and I'm sure the games were as fun back in the late 80's as they are today maybe not as pretty but definitely just as fun!

My first PC was a 486 66MHz DX2, with 4MB of RAM and a HDD so small you were lucky to get a game on alongside Windows

Many happy hours were spent playing with the memory configuration and I remember one classic moment when I decided to install this disc called OS/2 that came free with a PC magazine....
