errors in games could be like a pixel getting drawn wrong or a slight glitch in the A.I. of cpu opponents

memtest and prime calculte numbers and already have the answers so they can check the calculations are correct so even one little bit that is wrong will show up

whereas in games these tiny errors are not so noticeable

thats why i dont bother with these type of benchmarks as im not looking for supercomputer accuracy it works the way i want it to so im happy

maybe when i move upto amd64 i will make sure its super stable but if prime etc dont cooperate with me straight away then im not gonna bother my ass with them

an dont give up keep messin around check the for sale section and ebay for used ram that is good quality , look out for things like winbond bh5 chips or samsung tccd

Yeah I will do. I 'll tell you what I have settled for in the end:
fsb 184 giving me a clock speed of 2.12
    vcore 1.7
    vdimm 2.6

and I have tightened my timings at this speed to 2.5, 3, 3, 7 so not bad

Overall I was getting about 92-94fps on cs:s and now Im getting around 99-100 so still a big improvement and a lot less slowdowns. I guess thinking about it now, when playing everygame at 1024, 786 do I need much more of a powerful system at the moment, not really. If I every have the need to upgrade because newer games are more taxing, I can just buy some overclockable RAM for about £110 and probably go past 2.3ghz and I will still get a good performance boost. Plus I can sell my ram for at £50 so i won't be losing out that much. Thanks for all your help, me and my pc are happy

Im running an XP1700 at 2.26GHz, so I'd say there's more left in that XP2600

Yeah i think so too, i ran my ram on divider and had my cpu at 400 and ram at 333 all at stock voltages and it ran prime for 6 hours without error. So i'm guessing there should be a lot left in this processor later on.
