    X2 3800+(which mobo?????????)

    Hey,

Thinking of getting one of dem x2 3800 chippys from lowest.

Anyhoo which motherboard you guys reckon??????????

I was thinking maybe a DFI LanParty UT nF4 Ultra-D PCI-E at £98.70 including VAT from Tekheads?

If I go for the DFI what memory as I read lots about memory incompatibility?

    Cheers everyone

The Asus A8N-E is the only single PCI-E motherboard if you want a solid X2. Overclocks well too!

Well for overclockability the DFI is the board to go for.

Memory with it: OCZ Gold or OCZ Plat Rev 2 or GSkillz TCCD-based RAM.

The Asus is a great board and easier to use than the DFI, but doesn't OC quite as much/less options in the BIOS.

On another note: The DFI board can easily be hard-modded to an SLi board with a pencil mod - a very easy pencil mod

    I wouldnt buy one.. yet.

Wait for a crossfire certified AMD board (if these are out, well.. i didnt know lol) or a new high-bandwidth Nforce4 board. These are teh best out there and will go with your new CPU nicely. Shouldnt be too long for either too, less then a month im sure.

This will ensure that you dont have problems with future upgrades. TBH there's not much new with the new Nvidia chipset so you could get the current DFI if you like, but if you are even considering using ATI Xfire then i'd wait and check that out...

It's the best by far in terms of proper support for the X2. It requires no tweeking and has zero quirks. No other (single PCI-E) board can claim this honestly. There are a couple of SLI boards that are great, but most of the non-SLI boards suck for the X2.
