That was exactly my reasoning BenW. I can just about get a 3700+ if I drop down the memory to the regular kit.

Well, that's it I guess! Once I go through it a few more times, I'll be ordering the items within a few hours to hopefully get a delivery time this week. Thank you for all the help guys, I'll see if I can get some snaps and screens of the new system running when it's finally built.

If your going to OC then you will need good RAM to get that done.

For 2 x 1gb sticks you will wanna get Crucial Ballitix Tracers

For 2 x 512mb sticks you want something like:

    UTT BH5/CH5

    or

TCCD: GSkillz LE 4400/4800 or OCZ 4800

I wouldn't skimp on RAM if you're going to overclock.

And make sure you use a native 24pin PSU for NF4 - they don't like 20-24pin adaptors

A Venice 3200+ will get you up to around 2.7GHz+ with good cooling and decent RAM/PSU

    Funnily enough I don't know.

BUT if you go to www.jab-tech.com they have every panaflo imaginable (ok not every one) and it works out very cheap with USPS Global priority - no VAT (very cheap item) and came to me in 5days

To be honest kempez815, I'm not too experience with overclocking, so I think the Athlon 3700+ and the standard Crucial 1GB RAM would be better for me.

    OK then fair enough.

You may want to consider GEIL Value Performance as its very cheap and very low latency RAM 2 x 1gb kit is £130ish and 2 x 512mb kit is £68ish. Worth the money fo' sho'

Haha, I'll take a look into that. The reason I went for Crucial is because I know that they are reputable and have great quality RAM. I've never heard of GEIL, but I'll do some research on their products. Might help me cover the cost of the CPU.

I've made another last minute switch and I'm thinking of going for the Corsair Pro RAM kit (as opposed to the standard Crucial RAM). Bearing in mind that overclocking is far from my forté, is this a recommended change?

you dont need pro one, only if you like all the flashy lights, if you dont go for normal one - cheaper.
And yes corsair is best for driving on normal settings and more.

    That's great then!
I went for the Pro as it isn't that more expensive... and, yes, I'm a sucker for flashy stuff

Before you order, look into how much extra you'll spend on delivery... With HEXUS and Scan's free delivery, it might well be cheaper to go with it all through Scan.

The thing is Nick, I was actually planning to order everything through Scan in the first place, since I know they are a reliable company. The fact that we now get free shipping is just a bonus. Unfortunately, I had to go with ebuyer.com for the XFX 7800GT as Scan do not sell it and they have a decent price for it (I'm buying a new switch for my LAN from ebuyer.com, so I can order that at the same time).

Crucial have free delivery as a promotional offer, so that isn't much of a problem, but, that said, I'd much rather have everything in one nice neat package (sans graphics card).

    Otherwise Scan rocks
