The TFT is actually quite nice further away, you can see the whole screen in a glance, especially helpful with webdesign and certain rather addictive online games (CS, CZ etc) HL2 was great fun on it aswell. Looking to replace the monitor with 2 Xerox Glass Fronted TFTs, when money allows.

I might consider selling my 2005FPW at some point and getting the 2405FPW (24" widescreen with HDTV capabilies) as my monitor upgrade... apart from that I love mine

(I also love any other bigger widescreen monitor, like the HP's and Apple Cinemas lol)

    I like my Dell, Dude.

    Unreal,

I'm a retired dude and I'm not techie; that's why I have Dells. They keep me happy. I've got the Dimension XPS with Intel 3.6 HT, 2048 Megs of RAM and 2-160 gig hard drives. I gave my wife my old computer when I got this one, another Dell, Dude; XPS gen2 with an Intel 3.2 , 2048 megs of RAM and 3-100 gig hard drives. Both monitors are Samsung 19", hers runs analog, mine digital. I know there's not a lot of screen space, but I get rid of the bars if I need to see more. The bottom, as you know, are the tabs, then the handy Netcraft toolbar to check on where I surf, then the other Firefox bars.
As I said, I'm retired and am not a techie, so this fits my needs. Of course, you can see I'm a slob, but I know where things are. I'm retired radio, so I've been putting airchecks of my shows into the computer with the Sony boombox which is sitting in front of the scanner. It's not normaly there, and it usually isn't this messy. I tried a couple Walkmans but they just didn't do the job. I needed something with more rewind, fast forward speed and endurance. 35 years of airchecks is a lot, so it's been working overtime. I just don't put things away when I'm in the middle of projects, so it messier than usual. We have limited space as the other side of the room is my Sony 50" LCD HI DEF TV with associated products and stereo gear. I couldn't make them, but that doesn't mean I can't buy them. Maybe I can learn something from you guys, or is that elitists? I'll just be the old fart on the block with a boatload of money.

By the way, the mousepad is one with a picture of an Asian chick and those are supposed to look like boobs. I usually don't use it because I have to put my hand too far under my desktop to use it and it doesn't seem to help my wrists, so I use my old hand Mr. Winkle mousepad which I love.

Lol thats nice mate, but theres no need to rant really... I didn't comment on the XPS, since I have a college mate who has one. You don't have to be a techy to have your own custom PC, I mean I was 14 when I built mine and I recently got a D in my Computing A Level test, for example. Thats no techy, lol

I knew I can spot a bra when I see one

Either way its a nice system mate, sorry if I got you fuming a bit or anything.

I must admit I can see the advantages of having Dells, mainly for the support side of things, I've got one. However with my custom PCs, most of the warrenties are invalidated within about 5 minutes, so theirs little point me buying a dell, if i can build my own. And for any of my friends/family who don't know their Processors from Graphics cards, or lack any willingness to sit playing with it all night, they are perfect. I'm just too prone to 'tweaking' for my own good

    Dave

p.s. it is a nice system mate, and if you're happy with it, then thats all that matters
